Let's watch this slow-motion horror as Bari Weiss continues the MAGAfication of the once-proud CBS News! Via the Daily Beast:

The new boss of CBS News, anti-woke opinion journalist Bari Weiss, axed a series of its shows Wednesday and fired dozens of staff.

Weiss, who was named editor-in-chief of the network when CBS’s new owner David Ellison bought her Free Press website, told staff it was an “enormously difficult day.” The wider Paramount company was warned by Ellison to expect widespread firings.

She'll flame out. CBS News has been in the crapper for decades now (save for 60 Minutes). They've brought so many in to turn it around and they've failed. I guess this Hail Mary to reshape into a FOX News or government propganda is what the owners want to do at the moment. MAGAs are so locked in on RW outlets, hard to imagine they'll start tuning in to CBS for morning and nightly news. Look for CBS News streaming platforms and owned and operated affiliates to start pushing dreck. I'm sure there will be cross-polination on live events and sports too. Somhow worm into entertainment programming.

even take Communications in college. Her BA is in history. No journalism classes, likely nothing in philosophy. Doesn't appear to be well rounded academically. A very telling point about people like this is their claim to fame in their earlier careers lists "culture" as their main area of endeavor. If one is working in the subject we would expect a substantial academic background in Sociology/Anthropology etc. but as usual we don't see it here.

As with so many today such as the Joe Rogan type etc. they have no actual background academically in what they shoot their mouth off about. When I see that word "culture" as the areas on which an author of articles, blogs or host of podcasts is focusing I cringe because it means nothing more than some drunk on a bar stool at the local tavern. Maybe even less.

34. Except for local weather, I don't watch any of them any more.

Stopped watching when the news started becoming more like entertainment tonight: sound bites with little if any follow up, commercial breaks that were longer than the news bites, and expanded sports that lasted longer than the rest (not sports fan, so having a sports segment that was 10-15 minutes long was a sign of the local news going downhill fast).
Worse, most of the shows were those idiotic, scripted, badly edited "reality" shows.
Not sure i will go back. I prefer to make handcrafted cards or read anyway.

I stream the NFL and have given up on March Madness as well.

We collectively need to start planning for communications and capabilities once they (the powers that behind P2025 and the current abomination) decide to cut off the internet as well.

We are going to need a local-based network that can communicate to others either clandestinely in a regulated and controlled internet or simply work with older technologies to maintain communication capabilities. It is coming. Doubting it won't make it not happen.
