Now what's going to happen is this

,regardless of what ever kind off politician ju-jitsu Schumer thinks he just committed, the news tomorrow will be that the Dems gave in and trump won.

Bank on it

50 million Americans who rely on ACA, snap and any other public assistance, will be completely and thoroughly fucked.

And the immediate fallout from this with effect every single working class person in this nation, from healthcare costs, to food costs, etc.

The long term fallout will be the death of many many people.

This nation, not just us Dems, were just condemned by the spineless senators that voted for this horseshit

Everyone knows the repukes are not honorable. They promise everything just to get what they want, then tell us, “fuck off, who the fuck are you?” When we demand them to stand by their words.

We are in a nation currently occupied by a new form of nazism and a gestapo making people disappear.

And we think that giving into these people is the correct thing to do?

Trump and his ilk maybe the Nazis, but fuck man, our current senators who voted for this are the Weimar Republic.

People will be complaining about why they are paying money (for the tax penalty you have to pay for being uninsured) for a health insurance plan that is not affordable. People are overestimating the Democratic Party's intelligence and underestimating the Republicans. That seems to be a problem around here.

It’ll limp along until maybe the end of the year, but I see all funding for it cut off very very soon.

And if the repukes hold to their history, they’ll probably cut it right before Christmas. Just to add an extra fuck you for good measure

The marketplace only survives with a large pool of participants to spread the risk.

High premiums will just lock millions out and it dies via attrition as insurance companies opt out of participating at any price

Trump spent every day of the shutdown blaming "The Democrats!" for it, while our repose was that it's a Republican majority and they could open the government back up whenever they so pleased.

...So now, here we have the government opening back up. Not because of the Republican majority getting their shit together and opening it... But because Democrats decided to vote in favor of opening it back up.

We just legitimized every bit of blame that Trump was laying at our feet.

The insurance will be too costly, and people will then have to pay the tax penalty for not carrying any insurance. And that is how Republicans will kill the ACA.

Are feckless, lack commitment and backbone, don’t stand for anything, etc.

Honestly, when the reputation and popularity of the party is already so low, the last thing you do is just—overnight—cave in. Americans may love an underdog, but they love winners ever more. And they hate quitters.

Trump and the Republicans are the “winners” here. This capitulation will stain the party—everyone who carries a D after their name—even those who didn’t give up the fight.

Look, I agree the shutdown shouldn’t go on forever. But the better way to go should have been to find desperate Rs on the other side who were maybe ready to cave as well—and negotiate a deal with them. Both sides give something and everyone can claim a win. There is no explanation for this the general public will be able to understand. Why put them through the pain? It makes other people’s pain look like a game.

But as it is? Now it’s just a cluster. What was the shutdown for? Apparently, nothing. No way to spin this as a win. And so, will Federal employees be “grateful” the Democrats had their pay suspended for six weeks and got literally nothing out it? Will food stamp recipients be grateful? Will airlines customers? Will families on the ACA? What a disaster!

The shutdown was killing Trump and the GOP. They continued to tank in the polls. We had them on the ropes and they were eventually going to be decimated politically as this went on. What do the senate democrats do? Completely capitulate to Trump and willingly hand over all leverage to him on a willing bended knee. It’s disgusting. These democrats have killed the ACA. I’m pretty sure Schumer was completely fine with it behind closed doors. How do you think Lyndon Johnson would have handled these turncoat democrats if he was minority leader?? It’s all so depressing. These traitors have screwed us all and have killed all of the momentum coming out of last week. Pathetic & depressing

When ACA is no longer, people will die because they don't get regular healthcare.

People who don't have healthcare will go back to using ER's for regular healthcare. It will take away from the emergency care system. The hospitals and communities will absorb the cost. Hospitals will fail.

Healthcare premiums will go up for all of us - those who can actually afford healthcare (at all) that is. The drain on the system will have collateral damage.

There was a reason the ACA was implemented.

Right now healthcare is mandatory, just as car insurance is mandatory. I guess those who go back to being without health care because it is not affordable will technically be breaking the law.
(
Correction: individual mandate struck down by SCOTUS. Thanks for the help standingtall.)

Taking away the ACA subsidies will result in a system-wide break down.

And most of all - people will die.

It can be tricky negotiating when someone has a knife to your throat. I speak from experience.

And I am speaking not just metaphorically, but as in this case, quite literally.

That m*therfu*ker is a stone cold psychopath. And he's wielding a knife. He has no intent of negotiating and the blade is beginning to bite.
