A Disabled Child's Mom Reported Him Missing. He Was Locked Away by Federal Immigration Authorities for 48 Days.

https://thebarbedwire.com/2025/11/24/disabled-child-federal-immigration-custody/

Maria Garcia couldn’t bear to attend the nightly meals near Triangle Lake, where for several weeks, the smell of pinto beans, turkey necks, and other soul food staples filled the air outside a federal children’s detention facility in southeast Houston.

The Southern home-cooked meals had become a supportive ritual, one that Garcia appreciated but was too difficult for her to take part in. Garcia’s son, who has an intellectual disability, remained locked inside for 48 days. Other mothers of children with neurological and development disorders stepped in.

“We need to be there every night. Because while the world scrolls and moves on, there’s still a baby waking up in a place that isn’t his home,” Cathi Rae, a member of Autism Moms of Houston, wrote in an October blog post. “A baby who can’t make sense of where his mom went or why she hasn’t come to get him.”

On Oct. 18, Rae started the nightly dinners from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the park bench across the street from the facility. She and other mothers knew that though he couldn’t see them, it was a way to show 15-year-old Emmanuel Alexander Gonzalez Garcia that he was not alone.

the rage that reading this makes me feel. just full 'need to stare into the middle distance because we are so, so lost' stuff.

A concept, a consideration, a word. Nothing. You ask about morality and Leavitt will answer, "You asked about the cosine of 'x'."

Ask Trump, and he will say, "Quiet. Quiet, Piggy."

Ask Hegseth, and he will reply, "Can't you dress better?!"

When the caged all kids on the border.....of unknown amounts, maybe in the thousands, and then the were "disappeared" with no paperwork or paper trail what so ever.
Everyone involved then, or now should be sentenced to prison....ICE, Proud Boys, all that are even remotely involved, and the leaders that sent them on the mission.......

It just goes to show you how SADISTIC Trump and The Republicans in the Senate, House and USSC truly are in the depths of their souls......

Do these holding facilities get money for each person detained? Do the private detention centers get money every time a person is moved into each center? Do ICE agents get a bounty for each person they take away - legal or not?

I saw another video of a non-verbal autistic young men being tacked to the ground because he was "non-compliant."

This is nothing but corruption.

that ICE and Homeland Security are two departments that are completely obliterated. ICE thugs must be held accountable for events such as these, even if the specific person who did the harm is not known. Too many times, accountability is blown off because the name of the specific person isn't known. We must ensure we have a category under which to file charges against ICE, as a whole, or sections of ICE in particular.

This administration makes a big deal out of autistic kids and why they're autistic, but just like unborn vs newborn babies, all care seems to stop once the baby grows up or shows signs of disability. This is dancing on the edge of a pin, ASFAIC, and could easily be drawn into Eugenics with the administration we currently have. It just makes me so infuriated!

35. there's a reason they called ICE
Mon Nov 24, 2025, 09:52 PM

Here is the probable reason, taken from a document called "Immigration Detention in Texas [FACT SHEET]" published by Human Rights First. Note these figures are from 2012, so you can only imagine how they have grown:

snip

Budget-strapped Texas counties seek to contract with ICE in hopes of revitalizing their economies through expanded immigration detention.

snip

and note this:

snip

Detention costs taxpayers $164 per day. Alternatives cost taxpayers 30 cents to $14 per day. The pilot community-based alternatives program at Casa Marianella in Austin is a good model for the positive potential of alternatives to detention.

snip

The document, found at this link, tells of alternatives that cost a fraction of what is cited in my snip above.

What people should be asking is where the F are they getting all the information to know who to attack and round up. ice is being very specific on who they are illegally arresting so where's the list, information or illegally gained information coming from?
