Imagine the panic among the Democrats as they desperately try to salvage from utter ruin the politicians who make them look good better by comparison.

A close run thing this is going to be, you might recall the revival job done on the GOP after 2008, that will be as nothing compared to what's needed now.

They can, for example, approve another-let's-send-even-more-jobs-to-foreign-countries "free-trade" agreement. One is in the works. Although not a lot of publicity is being given to it, the proposed agreement is being called the NAFTA of the Pacific by some.

They can also seek to repeat the results of the 1994 Congressional elections by supporting irrational gun legislation as was done before the 1994 election. If 40% of the Democratic households have firearms which are owned for home defense or other purposes, such proposed legislation will peel off a few votes. It also won't help with Independents who don't think of themselves as "gun nuts."

They can resume supporting a pipeline from Canada though the middle of the country.

The DC politicians who want to salvage the Republican Party from utter ruin are not without resources.
