Yeah. America's "hoping," and I'm sure Congress is gonna get RIGHT ON IT.At midnight, the Obamacare subsidies that had helped many Americans afford insurance finally expired, after lawmakers failed to agree on a plan to extend the enhanced tax credits.
Now, Americans who rely on Obamacare are hoping Congress might be able to address the skyrocketing premiums in the next few weeks.
By the middle of January, the House is expected to pass a Democratic bill to renew the subsidies for three years. That bill will not become law it already failed in the Senate previously but lawmakers in both parties hope the legislation will spur Congress to rally around what has long proved elusive: a bipartisan agreement to address Obamacare costs.

(21,628 posts)...Dems are writing a bill to extend the premiums for three years, which...if it makes it to the Senate, will die there...but they will use it to "negotiate."
Republicans want what they have wanted for MANY YEARS, which is the American people, thrust into the marketplace to buy their own health insurance.
Which will mean exorbitant prices for coverage which will deny pre-existing conditions.
But hey...Congress is still on holiday break. Let's not bother them with this.

This needs to be shouted from the rooftops.
