There’s another problem. Like all fascisms, MAGA is a nostalgic movement, imagining a nation that strayed from an “original” America that was white, virtuous and Christian. This produces two problems. One is the profound unease many magas have with the fact that Vance is married to a brown daughter of immigrants and that he has mixed-race children. The many photos of Vance embracing Erika Kirk, who I think is going to have real problems hanging on to the very male-centered TPUSA, have anointed her as a potential “office wife.”

1. Encouraging news.

The end of the MAGA movement is definitely a hopeful sign. If there’s any truth to it, that is.

There will be millions of MAGAts looking for someplace to go.

whatever they transmogrify into next isn't the same degree worse than MAGA than MAGA was in relation to the Tea Party. Don't get me wrong, the astroturf Tea Party sucked out loud, but they were sort of the same soulless assholes that Republicans had been for a while by the time they were dreamed up in a boardroom by the Koch Brothers, Adelsons etc. What were are seeing now is just...exponentially so much worse.

6. It's project 2025, the tech bros, the billionaires and the media they own that I'm worried about.

Vance is a fish out of water. He won't go far.

But the damage from project 2025 et. al. may be devastating. This country is going to be unrecognizable in a few years.

Yes, I'm pessimistic.
