(54,910 posts)I was earning under $20,000 annually as a substitute teacher.
My father was paying at least $1,000 per month for my Blue Cross. When he suddenly died, the first thing I did the next morning was the call the toll-free number to see if I could enroll in the ACA despite the fact it was April. And they took me because it was an emergency situation.
And I even argued to stay on the ACA when it was time to enroll in Medicare as I believed the former was a better deal. And no, it doesn't work that way. 65 and older is strictly Medicare. (Not that I'm complaining . . . )
I owe a lot to "Obamacare" and wouldn't deny it to anyone.
