Trump has started another American war for oil this time in Venezuela. He is not hiding the real reason why he is attacking Venezuela.

But still, an oil company had made investments and was licensed to exploit a rather large oil field.

With no real warning, the equipment was nationalized and the deal voided.

Now, Venezuela has control over its resources, to be be sure. At the same time, it also should honor its contractual obligations and make right things like nationalization. Which is why an international court awarded the oil company a $7.5 billion (or was it $8.5 billion) judgment that the Venezuelan government just sniffed at in compliance with international law. (That wasn't the only large judgment made against the seizure contra contracts made by Venezuela.)

In a sense it's been Venezuela's oil straight along. At the same time, in a sense Venezuela contracted away most of its rights to a bunch of that oil then just decided to renege on a whim.
