(3,279 posts)There's a reason that Venezuela is still sitting on the largest oil reserve in the world. Primarily because the oil is crap. Unlike light sweet crude out of, say, the North Sea, Venezuela's oil is called heavy sour. It's tar-like thick and is full of sulfur and other contaminates.
It's super-expensive to refine and with oil prices as they are currently, it's probably not worth the refining expense to turn it into barrels that could be sold on the open market.

(3,202 posts)American oil. We have lots, I understand. I don't know what the quality is. The Trump regime may not be as bad as Madura's. I really don't know. But it's bad enough, corrupt enough, lawless enough, that I'd really like to see the U.S. undergo a regime change,
