If Trump invokes the insurrection act, that's it for me. (A copy of a reddit post).

A post by Reddit user "SneakyLilShit". I'll put the link below if you want to scroll and read the comments. I'm posting this for awareness and inspiration.
_______________________________________________________________

I've spent the last week checking on my neighbors, engaging with my city, my local police, everyone. I've supported my friends and family, made sure they knew they weren't alone in their feelings of hopelessness, powerlessness. I've called and emailed my representatives, demanding answers, demanding action. I've just been overcome with this overwhelming, almost primal need to care for and support my community.

If Trump invokes the Insurrection Act, and soldiers take to our streets, then that tears it for me. My son just turned 1yr. I've done my best to be a helper, so that I can still be around to support him and spend time with him.

But if I have to STAND OUTSIDE in the FREEZING COLD and get the SHIT KICKED OUT OF ME by the people who are supposed to be protecting me, if I have to do that to fight for goodness, and righteousness, and justice, then that's what I'm gonna fucking do. I'm going to do it because this is not the future I want for my son.

If you've been out on the streets, and you're tired, and you're hurting, don't worry. Rest when you need to. Because I know my home and I know my neighbors. When you need to rest, two more will replace you. I will be one of them.

This is my home. Minneapolis is not going to quit. Minnesota is not going to quit. And FUCK EVERYONE who tries to come in here and take from us the PRIDE, LOVE, and COMMUNITY we've built.

As long as I can stand, I'm going to plant my two feet between the oppressors and the home I love.

I love you all. L'etoile du Nord.

The states need to actively oppose assaults on their residents, and need to actively support street demonstrations against the lawless violence of the federal government.

That's the way to avoid taking the bait, and to keep resistance non-violent.

Then he can really start grabbing and killing anyone that opposes him.
We are in a really tough situation.

Jack Smith was released and he's doing everything to distract from that. And from the epstein files , and that's the whole reason we're here
What's it gonna take for the republicans to realize that he is stark raving mad and not fit to be in office

the regular army is called in to start mowing citizens down. No ranking commander who swore an oath to defend the Constitution will give that order. If I’m wrong you can kiss it goodbye and the bad guys “win”.

So far, they have happily followed all the illegal orders Trump has issued. I believe that many people are evil by nature and are only constrained from acting on it by social norms and law.

We have a president who dismantled all these barriers. This gave the go-ahead to so many of these people. You can see that in ICE and Law enforcement too. These naturally attract authoritarian people. Give them a signal that it is ok to behave lawlessly, and they will do it.

We are entering a very dark time, as I am sure most of you know. Minnesota is fighting to keep its state's sovereignty against an increasingly totalitarian state. We need to know if and when they need our direct help. We need to have louder and more frequent protests that include solidarity with Minnesota, Renee Good, and others who have been killed or severely injured by ICE. Minnesota cannot stand alone.

I am currently packing my treasures, don't know my destination but I will be out of here if he continues to put troops in the streets of our cities. The agenda of these bastards is an entire white nation and they are robbing us blind and I fear the worse is yet to come. I come to DU for my sanity and those who share my thoughts and fears. My first hope is that they will ALL be held accountable for crimes against humanity, especially the guy who shot Renee Good in the head 3 times. Repugs are complicit and taking us deep into this abyss. I keep hoping for ANY silver lining, anything positive for our democracy.
