I was in school with one direction, to be a war corespondent. But I met a (don't tell him I called him ex) ex Marine and fell hard. My Mentor took me aside when he saw I had major feeling for Dave. He let me in on the lowdown. He said he though I could be one of the best. That I had to think hard about what I wanted. Many a divorce has happen due to the career. That my man was a marine so he knew what I was heading into and that it would be very rough on him. Three ways this could go. I could go ahead and try for both, but that could be a long shot. I could stay with the eye on the prize and let Dave find someone else, or change my path a little into a more domestic path and marry Dave.

I thought it over for a week, then... well here I am with Dave and not overseas.

There's a Three Stooges episode where some dictator tells them they get to choose how they want to die. Larry says, "That's easy!" The others say, "It is?" And Larry says, "Sure! Old age!"

So I could have set my feet in three different centuries.

After that, I could care less, so long as my meat goes to a good cause; I'm not using it anymore, maybe some crows are hungry or something.

More likely I'll starve to death in the middle of the 21st century along with ~40% of humanity. Bad shit happens when our oil 1) runs out and 2) has turned our climate back to the Eocene.

I don't know which would be harder - to be physically healthy but mentally gone, or still totally cognizant but with a body that has given out. Right now I'm overseeing two family members - one in each category - and I hope and pray I don't become either.

I have cancer in both my lungs and liver. My first Chemo treatments had no effect on the growing tumors, the effectiveness of the chemo treatment I'm doing now hasn't been check yet, that will come next week. Either way I am not fooling myself about how this is going to work out. The doctors may arrest its advancement for now, or maybe not, but one day soon it will be back. And then that will be the end of me. It will not be the end of the world though.
