Some wisdom from the street

When I was in a shelter the Occupy movement did a march/ food drive and other needs. One of the older gentlemen was helping to pass boxed into the kitchen and I was helping to unload them. A couple of days later we meet again on the street and he remembered me. He asked how I was doing and that started a long conversation.

I asked him why they were doing so much, why not pick one area and work from there. The Occupy movement is involved with so much, how can they make a difference?

He smiled and said that winning one battle is good. But there is a war going on. One that was not going to be won with weapons or words, but with action. And that an army must fight the whole war if they expect to win the whole war.

Now I never could understand that till recently. I see us willing to give up a lot for little wins when there is a war going on. One that many need us to win. Being on the street, seeing people that cannot afford health care, seeing people going hungry. I even got to watch people hunt down people for the fun of beating them up.

I for one cannot give up till we win the whole thing. How about you?

But we are assured over and over by the RW faction here that Occupy failed or does not exist anymore.

Keep up the fight!

Not just bring stuff. It reminded many that we were people. That were were part of the community. They even showed that it was very important that the kid need to get an education by bring the things the kids needed for school. Stuff that were needed but was somewhat expensive for the parents to get.

After this happened, many other groups came in to see what was needed. They brought action to something that many in the area tried to not see.

What we need to do is look around our hometowns, see what is needed and get to work. Don't wait for a group to show you what is needed. Don't wait for something bad to happen to show you what is wrong. Look around and get to work.

why?

because the world is filled with a majority of good and generally decent people, often too (add excuse here) to fight back singularly in the open.

and yet, due to sheer numbers, evil cannot fight every battle on all fronts.

relentless positive change on every front dissipates evil's concentration. the same amount of venom becomes less potent when the body is larger.

thus focus on involving as much of the body politic, in each and every facet of life, as you can.

(as you bring resonance of your love to another, like cells of a body communicating, you help accord their vibration towards such love. and like a rolling thunder our spreading love echoes throughout the body of humanity.)
