Revealed: How the FBI Coordinated the Crackdown on Occupy

http://www.commondreams.org/view/2012/12/30

It was more sophisticated than we had imagined: new documents show that the violent crackdown on Occupy last fall – so mystifying at the time – was not just coordinated at the level of the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and local police. The crackdown, which involved, as you may recall, violent arrests, group disruption, canister missiles to the skulls of protesters, people held in handcuffs so tight they were injured, people held in bondage till they were forced to wet or soil themselves –was coordinated with the big banks themselves.

The Partnership for Civil Justice Fund, in a groundbreaking scoop that should once more shame major US media outlets (why are nonprofits now some of the only entities in America left breaking major civil liberties news?), filed this request. The document – reproduced here in an easily searchable format – shows a terrifying network of coordinated DHS, FBI, police, regional fusion center, and private-sector activity so completely merged into one another that the monstrous whole is, in fact, one entity: in some cases, bearing a single name, the Domestic Security Alliance Council. And it reveals this merged entity to have one centrally planned, locally executed mission. The documents, in short, show the cops and DHS working for and with banks to target, arrest, and politically disable peaceful American citizens.

The documents, released after long delay in the week between Christmas and New Year, show a nationwide meta-plot unfolding in city after city in an Orwellian world: six American universities are sites where campus police funneled information about students involved with OWS to the FBI, with the administrations' knowledge (p51); banks sat down with FBI officials to pool information about OWS protesters harvested by private security; plans to crush Occupy events, planned for a month down the road, were made by the FBI – and offered to the representatives of the same organizations that the protests would target; and even threats of the assassination of OWS leaders by sniper fire – by whom? Where? – now remain redacted and undisclosed to those American citizens in danger, contrary to standard FBI practice to inform the person concerned when there is a threat against a political leader (p61).

Not all conspiracy theories are bogus. The police state is taking shape right before our eyes, in our time.

Its so calming to know that the security apparatus of this country is targeting OWS. Its not like there is decade worth of high crimes to prosecute.

state.

they probably kept tabs on tea baggers, but they were pretty much given free reign: the difference is that they are a repressive RIGHT WING movement that doesn't seek to add more freedom or cut the legs off the corporate police state.

we came super close to revolution in the late 60s in many parts of this country.

left wing movement politics have never regained that momentum after nixon.

. . . and just like the first time around, anybody who dares to point out that this happened under the administration of he-who-must-never-be-criticized will be pilloried as a Republican shill. And it will be pointed out that he-who-must-never-be-criticized cannot possibly be expected to be held responsible for what executive branch agencies are doing on his watch.

the government and corporations as one entity. And as others have stated, because this is a LEFT wing social movement, it received particularly intense scrutiny.

because the documents were posted. I read them the best I could. Some parts were too small to read. My take was that most of the documents were from FBI or other field offices merely passing on threat information to local law enforcement. Most of the threats were from groups affiliated with Occupy, but not Occupy. Occupy was repeatedly called "peaceful."

In all the instances I found, the feds left the matters to local law enforcement, even when there were threats to shut down ports. In that case, the feds even told their agent to leave if any trouble started.

When Occupy Wall Street named themselves "occupy" they created a threat. "Occupy" is generally a hostile forceful act. I don't blame the feds at all for monitoring the situation by reading web sites, etc. There's no evidence of surveillance going beyond that. I don't blame them at all for meeting with banks too, when words like "occupy" are used.

After reading the documents, I reread the article. The author was trying to make a big deal out of nothing. I don't think she's very credible.

I don't believe they did designate Occupy as a terrorist organization.

ON EDIT: I went back to the documents and ran a search for the word "terrorist." It wasn't there.

what to do.

The banksters know Occupy is the greatest existing threat to their control, and they will do everything in their power to stop us.

Doesn't matter. A new world is dawning, a world where banksters are powerless, and nothing can stop this.

that many DUers condone this egregious fascist behavior by elements of our current government and corporations. However, when other DUers express the same distrust of the same elements of government and corporations to trample upon the citizenry they are called

* nuts
* paranoid
* foolish
* stupid
* psychotic
* dangerous
* etc. other personal insults

At least that is the case when the topic is gun control and a national gun registry.

Don't worry, the FBI isn't interested in taking your precious widdle guns. Unless you join Occupy and protest criminal bankers and corporations by waving them around.

They already paid the NYPD 4M and change, so I wouldn't be surprised if they paid off some of the Feds.

BTW, Robert Mueller is a rethug.
From 2001:
http://articles.cnn.com/2001-07-05/justice/fbi.director_1_fbi-director-attorney-post-robert-mueller?_s=PM:LAW

President Bush will nominate Robert Mueller as the new director of the FBI, White House sources said.

Mueller, 56, has Republican ties, but enjoys bipartisan support.
