Remember that provision in the Medicare Part D that Bush and his cohorts passed? The one that actually PREVENTS the govt from negotiating for better prices on prescriptions (the cost of which is shooting thru the roof)?
Why in the hell aren't lefties, and Obama, talking about removing that provision? That would save the Medicare program a LOT of money. Plus, it's just wrong not to negotiate for the cost of prescriptions, when your group is multi-million strong.

"What Noam Chomsky Show?" you might ask.
"What lefters on TV?" I might ask in return.

I'm getting tired of attacks by posters in this forum on the least little terminology I use....even when I directly use terminology used by others, who are RARELY criticized for hte same thing.
So go respond your little retort, which avoids the subject matter of the OP, to the other post this time.
If you don't want to, I'll be glad to post there for you, using your name...that you disapprove of questions posed as to why supposedly liberals on tv don't or do say certain things.

(45,274 posts)Really, I agree with you that the voice of the left isn't being heard, and the questions you raise aren't being asked there. I was just trying to point out that we have no leftist representation in TV. The so-called "left" positions that get any expression at all are actually center-right, and the "center" has been towed so far to the right by the corporate-media tugboats that it's on the shoals, and Nixon's policies now sound like Trotskyism, and Reagan like British Fabianism.

(31,893 posts)"Liberal" does NOT equal "Left".
Your OP didn't ask why "supposedly liberals" - which IS an accurate term - on TV don't talk about negotiating prescription prices for Medicare, your OP asked why "lefters" on TV didn't.
Since there are no "lefters" on TV, the question in your OP is non sequitur. Change "lefters" to "so-called liberals" and your OP will then make sense.

(579 posts)I saw my congressman, Tim Walz, on Mrs. Alan Greenspan's T.V. show recently and he did say that changing Medicare part D to a V.A. model would save (hundreds? of) billions every year. The subject was quickly changed and he got the hook.

You should ask him why he preserved that give away which harms the elderly and sick.

My senators are Republican, so that doesn't help.
My U.S. House rep is a Democrat, so I could email him.
