As President Trump prepares to deliver his State of the Union address, he gave a little glimpse on Monday of what Americans can expect.

“It’s going to be a long speech,” Mr. Trump said, “because we have so much to talk about.”

The president spent part of the weekend preparing for Tuesday’s address by reviewing the speech with a small group of advisers, officials familiar with his plans said.

...couldn't have imagined the irony of electing a (so-called) leader like Trump who gives interminable, Third-World-dictator-style speeches on the regular. We used to be a country that ridiculed such things.

Those Cubans in Miami have missed perhaps the most obvious similarity between Trump and Castro: their penchant for giving utterly interminable speeches, in Trump's case often filled to the brim with petty grievances. It's a similarity that I couldn't help but notice when Trump just couldn't give up the campaign even after becoming President. Somehow, we had elected a leader that behaved exactly like those we ridiculed during the Cold War.
