Palantir CEO Makes Shocking Confession on Disrupting Democratic Power

https://newrepublic.com/post/207693/palantir-ceo-karp-disrupting-democratic-power

https://archive.ph/ok5gb

Palantir CEO Alex Karp thinks his AI technology will lessen the power of “highly educated, often female voters, who vote mostly Democrat” while increasing the power of working-class men.

“This technology disrupts humanities-trained—largely Democratic—voters, and makes their economic power less. And increases the economic power of vocationally trained, working-class, often male, working-class voters,” Karp said in a CNBC interview Thursday. “And so these disruptions are gonna disrupt every aspect of our society. And to make this work, we have to come to an agreement of what it is we’re going to do with the technology; how are we gonna explain to people who are likely gonna have less good, and less interesting jobs.”

This sounds like a direct, long-term pitch to the GOP from a CEO whose tech firm already has numerous government contracts and is deeply embedded in the Pentagon. Karp’s message is loud and clear: My technology will take political capital away from one of your greatest enemies—liberal women with degrees—and give one of your favorite demographics to patronize—working-class men—more political power to transfer to you. He’s aligning his technology with both GOP political strategy and the larger male-centered culture war that the right has been waging for the better part of a decade now. And how exactly would his technology only hurt Democrat women?

Karp also made a Patriot Act–era argument, justifying his admittedly “dangerous” technology by claiming that Palantir will allow us to “be American” in the future.

“These technologies are dangerous societally,” Karp continued. “The only justification you could possibly have would be that if we don’t do it, our adversaries will do it. And we will be subject to their rule of law.… Why is it that we’re absorbing the risk of disrupting the very fabric of our society, including the most powerful parts of our society, if it’s not because it’s about maintaining our ability to be American in the near term and long term?”

In 2024, Karp was 1143rd on the Forbes annual World's Billionaires List with a net worth of $2.9 billion.[39] In 2025 his net worth at times exceeded $18 billion, ranking him among the 200 wealthiest people in the world on the Forbes Real-Time Billionaires List[40] and the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.[41][42]

In naming him to the Time 100 list, the magazine noted that Karp had once quoted Samuel P. Huntington's The Clash of Civilizations in a letter he wrote to investors: "The rise of the West was not made possible 'by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion ... but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. [...] Westerners often forget this fact; non-Westerners never do.'"[59] During a New York Times interview, Karp said that "you scare the crap out of your adversaries", asking, "Are we tough enough to scare our adversaries so we don’t go to war? Do the Chinese, Russians and Persians think we’re strong?" Maureen Dowd, a journalist, said the interview was "brim[ming] with American chauvinism".[8]

In 2024 The New York Times again quoted Karp, who said that he and his company, Palantir, had "a consistently pro-Western view, that the West has a superior way of living and organizing itself".[8] In the same interview, Karp said that the US would very likely face a three-front war against China, Russia, and Iran in the future. He opined that the best way to prepare for such a war would be developing autonomous weapons. In Karp's opinion, the West and the China-Russia-Iran axis were at technological parity. However, he added, the West had a disadvantage when it came to moral disparity because the West would likely not use nuclear weapons, although their adversaries might. He also told the Times that he favored military conscription.[8]

On the other hand, he's been politically all over the map...

In 2018, Karp said he is a socialist[60] and a progressive ("but not woke&quot .[8] In addition he said he voted for Hillary Clinton.[61] In 2024, the Financial Times identified Karp as "a major Biden donor".[62] Current Affairs editor Nathan J. Robinson wrote in 2024 that Karp "seems to have some idiosyncratic personal definition in mind that has nothing in common with the socialist tradition".[63] In 2024, Karp said that while he was "not thrilled" with the direction of the Democratic Party, he would still be "voting against Trump".[64] That same year, he called for the Democrats to project more strength, saying, "Are we tough enough to scare our adversaries so we don’t go to war? Do the Chinese, Russians and Persians think we're strong? The president needs to tell them 'if you cross these lines, this is what we’re going to do', and you have to then enforce it." He has also protested open-border immigration policies in the U.S. and Europe: "You have an open border, you get the far right. [...] And once you get them, you can't get rid of them."[8] In 2025, he said that he views himself as a "classic [sic] liberal".[65][non-primary source needed]

In a November 2025 interview with Wired, he said that to a family member that disagreed with him in a private conversation, "I would be pointing out that Trump’s decisions on AI, and his decisions on the Middle East, are very different than people in the Democratic Party would have made, and very good." Also, he would consider the Democratic Party to have left him if the Zohran Mamdani wing took over, which he viewed as the result of "[the] role played [by] universities and elite institutions [that are] teaching pagan religion views" ...

He has called Palantir a "counter-example" to companies he considers "woke".[68] In 2025, he adopted the framing woke left and woke right, defining the former as the aforementioned Mamdani wing and the latter as "everything is a conspiracy, any use of technology is actually going to only be used to eviscerate and attack us", categorizing both as "[opposed to] meritocracy".[66]...

Karp, with co-author with Nicholas Zamiska, published The Technological Republic: Hard Power, Soft Belief, and the Future of the West in February 2025. The book offers a critical perspective on Silicon Valley's complacency and the West's waning ambition, arguing that the software industry must partner with government to tackle urgent challenges, particularly the AI arms race.[91][92]

Humans adapt to survive..
That said, as a highly educated, mediocre female scientist and feminist impacted precisely in those ways, who has no quarrel with working class men, I take an indulgent view this sort of sleazy and sad puffery by Alex Kaarp etc.

But the lack of survival instincts in these guys is scarier. And if this is a highly educated female, its part of the problem up top that these are the female counterparts of guys like Karp:

They can both go to hell. Fair and balanced! I have no respect for those women or for Joy Buolamwini. They can fuck right off along with Marc Andreessen, Paul Singer, the Koch brothers etc. I don’t respect Clare Wu, Priscilla Chan, Sheryl Sandberg, Lucy Guo etc anymore than those men.

Fei Fei Li is the best of that type I would have to grudgingly acknowledge. At least she is a real scientist if she stops the “human caring” bullshit. But Affectiva is just bs and using the web of life for better weapons and misguided early warning systems etc is just obscene and alarming.

I came back to India permanently after seeing the world bullshit elites love (though I vaguely think France would be a cool place to briefly visit, but my work has been derailed too completely for me to plan)..I love it here as there are so many brainless creeps to report to the uncorrupted parts of the state.

I saw a piece by two IIT professors years ago: “Trai please stop Facebook’s free basics”.
Couldn’t agree more, but that applies just as much to indigenous parasites like Ambani as it does to Zuckerberg.

Actually, as I grudgingly changed my mind on John Hennessy, I am changing mine on Prof. Fei Fei Li. The caring crap is cloying and fake. But this is an emergency and it is all about survival and she is a scientist and not stupid.
I will stick with just tolerating Prof Hennessy. One of those types of people is about as much as one can stand and let it be the classical version of that type. I really do not get people who share any attributes with me and are inveigled except kicking and screaming into proximity with any of it.

Alex Karp is a child who needs a nurse maid.

"corporate Dems" "identity politics" that they take for granted and look down on voters and only think about money, both sides are the same and Democrats are complicit and corrupt, do nothing "strongly worded letters," and all that stupid crap helps the right-wing.

Why is it every time someone like this guy says something along those lines it always means, "Being a bossy, egotistical, self-absorbed, delusional asshole."?

And, it has brought down the aristocracy in the past. The billionaire class is another arrogant aristocracy that will collapse. And, it's usually the wars the fascists start that they can't win that is the beginning of their end. We are in one of those now.
