IL-09: Biss wins Democratic primary in Illinois House race defined by Israel support

Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss is projected to win the Democratic primary for Rep. Jan Schakowsky’s (D-Ill.) seat in a contest that was largely defined by candidates’ support for Israel, according to Decision Desk HQ.

Biss, who enjoyed Schakowsky’s endorsement in the race, defeated Illinois state Sen. Laura Fine (D) and progressive influencer Kat Abughazaleh, among others, in the Democratic primary for a House seat that spans northern Chicago and its north and northwestern suburbs.

Given the district’s reliably blue leanings, Biss is seen as the heavy favorite to win in November.

“The 9th District made its voice heard loud and clear for the whole country tonight by electing a progressive fighter and rejecting dark money once and for all,” Biss said in a statement touting his win.

Most Americans care about what is going on in America. We Americans want our elected officials to help us with all the problems facing us today. Being anti-Istael or anti-Israel money -- most people don't give a shit. We don't want war with Iran and we don't support what took place in Gaza, but we also don't want elected officials whose primary campaign issue is being anti-Israel. We could cut all ties with Israel tomorrow and our country would still be a huge fucking mess. We need to address that.

A lot of social media accounts, real and questionable, treat Israel like the only consideration for primary candidates. It's a different thing every two years.
