I was discharged from the rehab facility yesterday. It felt so good to sleep in my own bed once again. I could not have found a better place to rehabilitate from my wounds. The building had 4 wings, two for long term care and two for short term care. Each wing has a capacity of ten patients, so I was lucky that they had a n open bed when I needed it. The staff was invariably professional and caring.
I still have a long way to go before I am healed, but for now am thankful to be able to get around with a walker. I am enrolled with VNA, so I can get the help I need to get back to a normal life.

(13,290 posts)I tripped over my golden retriever and fractured my hip and had surgery Feb 8. Its a slow process back to life but we are moving there!
I found after the first few weeks the mental part was the hardest for me, learning to be patient so I can heal. They offered me rehab but my husband said he could take care of me and he did a great job including lots of flowers and teddy bears, lol. The only bad part of being at home is physical therapy appts here hard to get so I dont start until April 2. I bet you had it in rehab.
I have mostly sore muscles if I walk too much or sit, I heard they either stretch, move or cut and repair the muscles so makes sense it takes lots of time to heal.
I walk outside with walker but around house use cane, walker and hiking sticks.
Happy healing!

(2,525 posts)I had both physical and occupational therapy while in rehab, and it made a world of difference. I can't tie my shoes yet, but I will get there.
Sending you healing thoughts.

It takes hard work to rehab, good on you fir your achievements.
