New York Times: “The battle over congressional maps in Virginia, the latest in the nationwide clash over mid-decade redistricting in the lead-up to this year’s midterm elections, is intensifying with a statewide referendum only weeks away.”

“Tens of millions of dollars have poured into the state to fund campaigns for and against the referendum, which takes place on April 21 and will decide whether Democrats can redraw the state’s map to flip as many as four U.S. House seats currently held by Republicans. The vast majority of the money has flowed in on the Democratic side.”

I am in southeastern Virginia, and all I see are signs saying vote NO, end gerrymandering. I have yet to see a single sign supporting it. It is worrisome because most people are low-information voters, and they will think it's perfectly logical to vote no since it would "end gerrymandering". Of course, it would just help the republicans who have gerrymandered the state for decades.

There are 3 signs up on my block and all three say “Vote YES”.

When I voted, the Democratic volunteer offered me a street sign and I took it. It is now in my yard. When you vote, first of all vote early, and ask for a sign. You could call a number of Democratic affiliated or democratic friendly organization as another way to get a sign. Don’t fret about a lack of signs. Go get one and put it up. Things have changed, we all gotta get more engaged. Or as Michaelangelo Signorile would say: “Stay engaged and stay enraged and don’t drink the kool-aid.”
