During a Wednesday afternoon press conference in which he placed heavy blame on House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) for the chamber's adjournment before holding a vote on aid for Hurricane Sandy victims, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) defended the work of Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA).
"I spoke to Majority Leader Cantor today. I think Eric was working as hard as he could to get this done for us throughout the weekend and the early part of this week," Christie said. "And I had a conversation with the speaker this morning where he informed me he would be meeting this afternoon with members of the New Jersey and New York delegation from the Republican Party. So as to what's gone on, I think you have seen a lot of palace intrigue down there and I think unfortunately folks are putting politics ahead of their responsibilities."

Somthing has got to give. Think Christie is trying to push Boehner out the door?
Speaker Cantor = Christie win.
Speaker Boehner = Christie loss.

(16,079 posts)I don't buy it...this is the same Eric Cantor that was against relief funding for his district after the earthquake hit Virginia?
Sounds to me like Christie and Cantor have worked out some kind of a deal...to get Cantor as Speaker. That meeting is just a way for Cantor to guarantee the votes from New York and New Jersey Republicans for his run for Speaker!
I'm willing to say that Cantor was the one who convinced Boehner that there was no way he could get the votes to pass the relief bill that the Senate approved...especially after the "fiscal cliff" vote!
Cantor is Iago to Boehner's Othello...
