(25,242 posts)Reforming the filibuster is a major transforming way of doing that. This needs to happen. It will be another important feather is the President's legacy cap and cement his historical greatness as one of the best President's ever.

(130,895 posts)as President Obama is not a member of the Senate, unlikely he could be responsible for reforming the filibuster (unless highly unusual and unlikely approach is taken by him.)

(25,242 posts)I'm sure Harry wouldn't do any filibuster reform without discussing it with the WH and even the President. So at some level the President would be involved with such a matter.
It was interesting as I listened to the Senate discussion about this on CSPAN today. Sen. Durbin supports some sort of reform but indicated that it wouldn't be coming up tomorrow in the Senate. I thought that such rule changes need to be brought up on the first day of the new Congress. Can anyone verify that for me - or do they have a few days to take up such a matter?

(130,895 posts)Don't know under what rules they operate thereafter. Not a student of this. Lawrence O'Donnell surely knows.
EDIT: Discussed here, Reid has a ploy: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022119346
