Based on what we know about Cullertons bill, firearms that would be banned include all semiautomatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns. Pump action shotguns would be banned as well. This would be a very comprehensive ban that would include not only so-called assault weapons but also such classics as M1 Garands and 1911-based pistols. There would be no exemptions and no grandfathering. You would have a very short window to turn in your guns to the State Police to avoid prosecution.

(373 posts)The Grabbers will never want to take away your daddy's shotgun, or that 7 round pistol that grandpa brought back from dubya, dubya two.
No siree. The grabbers are masters of restraint and common sense. They only want the scariest, blackest rifles of the streets. You need not be worried about anybody taking away your duck gun or your antique pistols (Until after the scarier guns are gone, of course. Ban the fuck out of everything later!)
The next person that trys to tell me that the grabbers only want "Common sense" regulations and have no intention of infringing on the rights of "regular" gun owners can get bent. Shit like this shows what it's all about. Total control and regulation.
Truth be told though, I absolutely LOVE this type of legislation. It never passes, shows of the true intentions of statist grabbers, and strengthens the resolve of gun owners against future legislation, as they now see what the end-game is.
Carry on, Illinois. You already had more Americans killed within your borders last year than Afghanistan, but whatever.

Rather than write some very similar-sounding words, I will just quote him, which began with the admonition "Remember folks," and continued:

Why is this post from RKBA out of that post and into GD? And why is there a gun nut on the loose retelling stories out of RKBA group where they can have their own fantasies.

(7,515 posts)Until the NRA became a front for Murder, Inc. very few Americans feared their government. I'd be willing to bet that even today very few rational Americans fear their government. Of all the disturbing memes pushed by gun lovers the "fear your government" is by far the worst.

Further I wonder how exited the Illinois State Police are about door to door confiscations of guns...hopefully they tell Mr. Cullerton, "you first".

(40,416 posts)We need all public school teachers to be armed with trébuchet. That will put an end to these senseless killings.
That'll do it. No 20th (or 21st) century tech needs to be employed. In fact, the Trebuchet goes way back into the dark corners of history. The main advantage is that it takes several people to load and there is no possible 30 round magazine. It's one shot.
My favorite is the flaming piano shot.
Second Amendment rights!
Protect your family!
Trébuchets for everybody.

(16,038 posts)include my deer hunting rifle. The one my grandfather bought in 1954, he used it until he died. He was an avid deer hunter in Michigan and Wisconsin. My dad then started using it for deer hunting. I shot my first deer with it in 1978. I have used it since my dad passed away in 2000. My son shot his first deer with it in 2008. It has a detachable magazine and is semi automatic. Remington Model 740.
It looks exactly like this one..
capacity to accept a detachable magazine, a muzzle
brake, or muzzle compensator;
Oh, and semiautomatic pistols with detachable magazines...missed that. This is simply the truth about gun control advocates wishes. Now this dolt has shown most anyone who believes the whole "reasonable restrictions" is what gun controllers generally believe to be reasonable...snick..

(7,776 posts)Such are the consequences when you bite off more than you can chew...
In a setback for gun-control advocates in the wake of the killings of school children in Connecticut, the Illinois Senate was poised to adjourn Thursday without voting on two pieces of legislation aimed at limiting access to certain kinds of weapons and bullets.
Although the two proposals could emerge again when the legislature reconvenes next week, the lack of action shows the General Assembly remains divided on how to balance Second Amendment issues.
A spokeswoman for Senate President John Cullerton, D-Chicago, offered no timetable for when the gun safety proposals might surface again.
We will take some time to work on these important issues to advance them in the near future, Rikeesha Phelon noted in a message to reporters.
One proposal would restrict the possession, delivery, sale and transfer of semiautomatic weapons, including handguns and rifles.
The National Rifle Association lobbied against the measure, saying the ban would take as many as 50 percent of long guns off the market in Illinois. Gun manufacturers also said the proposal could force them to lay off workers.
