The Easter Islands (Rapa Nui) and Data Centers

One theory is the people of the Easter Islands thought building their statues was so important that they deforested their island to keep building them, even as it became uninhabitable.
The analogy to this and our rush to build Data Centers that consume more and more resources, while providing very little in return seems apt.
