They Voted for Trump. Here's How They Feel About High Gas Prices.

Adele Wilson, 30, of Ada Township, Mich.
Ms. Wilson, a dental assistant, said Mr. Trump’s second term had been unsuccessful, and she called the war a “horrible idea.” She was unsure how she would vote in the midterms, she said, but she had already ruled out voting for JD Vance or Marco Rubio in the 2028 presidential race. She said that she was unimpressed with the potential Democratic presidential candidates, but that she might “vote Democrat until the Republicans get it together.”

Megan Hernandez, 42, of Winthrop, Maine.
Ms. Hernandez said the price of gas was forcing her family to eat out less and spend less on “other little things.” But she noted that gas prices had not gone higher than their peak under the administration of President Joseph R. Biden Jr. (the average reached roughly $5 in June 2022 after Russia invaded Ukraine). She said gas costs would not be a major factor in how she voted in the midterms. She believes the war with Iran might be necessary to prevent the country from acquiring a nuclear weapon, she said, and she is unsure how she will vote in November.

Ryan Hummel, 25, of Cincinnati.
Mr. Hummel, a recent college graduate who identifies as a political independent, said gas costs were one of his chief expenses and that he regretted voting for the president and distrusted the White House. But, he added, he was conflicted about the war and was unsure if gas prices would be decisive in how he voted in the future.

Matt Yerkes, 74, of New Richmond, Ohio.
Mr. Yerkes, who is retired, said he backed the war and viewed the costs at the pump as “short-term pain” to address a “long-term problem.” He said he disliked the president’s personality, but added, “I agree with essentially everything he does from a policy standpoint.”

Raven Hoskins, 27, of Grand Rapids, Mich.
Ms. Hoskins, a package handler who identifies as a political independent, said gas prices were making it harder for her to afford food, and she blamed the president. “A lot of people, especially of my color, think that he’s a really racist man, but I look at him like a businessman,” she said. “Him running us like a business — I’ve seen where it’s gotten us, and it’s not good.” She said she was unsure what she would do in the midterms.

While they gave their names, genders, and ages (for example) they gave no notice about their wealth status... except for the last one mentioned in his own paragraph. I doubt a 27 year old grocery store employee is in the 1%. Maybe none of these three are... but how many people did they interview for this poll that WERE in the upper echelons? We never get that information, so it's always perspectively skewed. We assume the people polled are just like us. Well... in a hell of a lot of ways... they couldn't be more different from us. I'd like to sometime see a breakdown of support for trump, broken into income brackets. That would say a lot more about our country's status as far as maga citizenry is concerned, IMO. I mean, you really don't expect many millionaires, etc., to vote against trump. They'd be too afraid trump would come after their millions! Maga idiots don't have anything trump wants.

They are those who love inflicting pain because that's what they believe, that loving is to hurt others. I know it's twisted, but they are sick individuals. Every day is opposite day with a psychopath. We need to learn how to identify them and avoid them like the plague.

Psychopathy is a very common
mental disorder. It is twice as
common as schizophrenia,
anorexia, and bipolar disorder.
It is equally common as bulimia,
panic disorder, and autism.
The only mental disorders
significantly more common than
psychopathy are substance abuse
or dependence, depression, and
post-traumatic stress disorder.

Psychopathy affects all
ethnic, cultural, racial,
and socioeconomic groups.

...psychopathy
is a spectrum disorder,

Prevalence in the United States
Approximately 70% of the
population is estimated to
have no psychopathic traits
whatsoever.

Key Point
👇👇👇👇👇👇
The remaining
30% have low, medium, or
high levels of psychopathy.

Characteristics of Psychopaths

1. Aggressive, callous, and cunning
2. Complete absence of conscience and empathy
3. Very adept at manipulating others
4. Willingness to engage in immoral, criminal conduct
5. Willingness to take what they want and do as they please, regardless of who is hurt or wronged
6. Deceptive ability to appear outwardly benevolent
7. Deceptive ability to behave in superficially charming ways to hide purely selfish motives
8. Willingness to use intimidation and violence to control others in order to satisfy their own needs
9. Willingness to intentionally violate the basic inherent human rights of others
10. Complete absence of any sense of guilt or remorse for the harm their actions have caused to others
11. Rationalization of their own immoral behavior
12. Will attempt to lay blame upon someone else for their own conduct
13. Denial, will deny their own wrongdoing outright
14. Utter contemptuousness toward the feelings and desires of their fellow beings
15. Pathological lying, will say anything without any concern for truth to advance their own hidden agendas
16. Ablity to feign [fake] normal human emotions and empathy
17. Distorted sense of the consequences of their actions
18. Total failure to accept any responsibility for their own socially irresponsible ways
19. Strong bellef that they will never be brought to justice for their criminal behavior

Learn how to spot one. If for no other reason than to save humanity and you might save democracy along the way.

Mon Jun 1, 2026, 09:35 AM

If you believe that only white people, mostly from Europe, should be allowed to immigrate here, you vote Republican. If you believe that men should rule everything from the country to business to personal relationships with no power for women, you vote Republican. If you believe that wealthy white guys are rich because they're smarter than everyone else and thus should run the country, you vote Republican. If you believe that all minorities who are poor just don't want to work and better themselves and you think that poverty is totally their fault, you vote Republican. If you believe that LGBTQ+ are an abomination and government policies should drive them out of public life with no rights, you vote Republican. If you believe that women's only role is to birth children and stay at home caring for them with no rights to higher education and economic independence, you vote Republican. If you believe that bullying other countries and making war on them to show the power of the US and its military to kill anyone it chooses, with or without cause, you vote Republican.

That is mostly the Republican Party of today, one that is morally and ethically bankrupt and willing to cheat to "win" elections because power is everything to them, even as they destroy the democracy they claim to support.

You know what? I’ll take that.

Message to all Republican voters who can see how horrible and incompetent Trump, his administration and all the Republicans that enable him are:

You do NOT have to become a Democrat to oppose them. You do not have to like Democrats to oppose them. You do not even have to vote for Democrats to oppose them, although that would help. What you have to do is STOP voting for Republicans until they start fielding candidates who are competent grownups that can work with Democrats to fix all the damage that has been done. You can either not vote at all in the next few elections or go vote for any candidate that is not a Republican.

Democrats are apparently all about taking enough money from hard working people to force them to struggle just to give it to those people who don't work hard.

Or, as I put it:

No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the average American voter. They either vote against their self-interests because of reasons, or they say "well, things went well under the Democrat so let's give the Republicans a try," or they say "The Democrats didn't do everything I want so, screw them, I'm going Republican. The undecided voter is as much a myth as the independent voter. We ARE NOT a business, we're a COUNTRY!
As a country we are not trying to make a profit or be most profitable.
We have to only do a couple of simple things:

Provide for the common defense - protect us against any country who would seek to take us over.
Promote the General Welfare of all the people in this country, including taking care of the hungry, the homeless and the poor.
Protect the freedoms in the Bill of Rights for all of our people regardless of race, gender, age, religion, color, and political affiliation.
