again.President Trump said Sunday that work would begin immediately to fix the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, which turned green with algae and saw its new coat of paint peel just days after workers completed a $16 million renovation project spearheaded by the president.
Trump blamed vandalism for the new issues plaguing the Reflecting Pool, which he had pledged to make "American flag blue" ahead of the nation's 250th anniversary.
"Work will begin immediately on fixing the seriously vandalized Reflecting Pool," the president wrote on Truth Social in one of several weekend posts about the pool saga. "I just inspected it, and could only say to myself, and those gathered around me, WOW, who would do such a thing? SICK, DERANGED PEOPLE!"
Trump also alleged that someone "took some form of knife or blade, and put a 250 foot long gash into the beautiful facade of what took so much work, competence, and money to build and complete." The location of the alleged gash was not immediately clear.

250 feet for America's 250th birthday? We don't need to sabotage the reflecting pool to make Trump look bad.

OP
Trump bragged that the wonderful blue pool coating would be so strong that it couldn't be cut with a knife.

(26,952 posts)1. How could anyone do that?
I mean, it is coming up in giant flaps. A knife cut doesn't do that. How could they hope to prosecute anyone based on lies?

that there are security cameras all over that place. Vandalism? Pictures, or it didnt happen.

...that could be sliced with a knife.
What a dumb claim.

to paint the pool, not the same surface at all.
When I painted my concrete garage floor I had to prep it with muriatic acid for the paint to stick.

Bulky nanobubbler machines were carted off ahead of a promotional event for President Trumps Ultimate Fighting Championship birthday party.

Dotted around the perimeter of the memorials Reflecting Pool were the nanobubblers, the temporary water-purification machines meant to keep the pool clear of algae. Encased in black fencing and powered by large generators, the machines were something of an eyesore.
Before the event, the National Park Service asked Greenwater Services, which won a $1.7 million no-bid contract to install the nanobubblers, to remove them, according to two people briefed on the decision. The people asked for anonymity because they feared retaliation from the administration. The Park Service did not provide a reason for the removal, but it coincided exactly with the promotional event, which drew crowds to the Reflecting Pool.
Photos from that evening showed the pool without the hoses or enormous machines working to keep the water clean. The water looked dark blue.
But by the time the purification systems were reinstalled 36 hours later, enormous algae blooms were starting to spread unchecked, turning the water green.,,,,,
The decision to remove the water-treatment systems, which has not previously been reported, was one of several missteps that have plagued Mr. Trumps $16.4 million renovation of the Reflecting Pool. There have been no-bid contracts, peeling strips of waterproof coating in Mr. Trumps handpicked shade of American flag blue, and even a dead duck floating in the water (though it is not clear if the renovation had anything to do with the ducks demise).
