I am not normally excitable, but when our first arrived, I was surprised by my reaction. Over the moon.

(60,936 posts)My grandfather used to love visits from us, but especially when our young girls were along. He was beaming when we went over to the USA to celebrate his 100th birthday. His great-grandchildren were the joy of his existence. I only wish my parents could have met theirs.
And beware the metamorphosis! My mom used to marvel at how our daughters transformed from blobs into some very feminine humans. It happens quicker than you think could ever be possiblefor the grandparents, that is. For the parents, the transformation cant come soon enough. We almost demanded that the day the last diaper was used in our house should be declared a world-wide holiday.

Either you adapt or .nope, in this case, there is no or

I was able to hang out with my four children, one son-in-law, and two little grandchildren (grandson, 3, and granddaught, 20 months). It is a wonderful time of life. My daughter, spouse, and daughter live in Europe, so it is good to see them. My grandson asked me, "Why are you the grandpa?" He finds my age beyond comprehension yet hilarious, finding it hard to believe I was once his age.
