But we lifted sanctions yesterday because Vance called this a major concession from Iran and great progress.

(3,467 posts)It is not wise to trust anybody with a vested interest in anything. But practically everything Trump has said since the beginning of this "excursion" has been a lie. I am trying to recall any similar lies that have come from the Iranians.

(16,183 posts)Readmission of inspectors was discussed as a possibility during current negotiations, but no actual agreement or protocols were reached at this time.
Vance is lying because the administration is desperate to show that Iran is making concessions. The Iranian spokesman is factually correct, but not telling the whole story.
Diplomatically, Vance claiming the concession has already been made when it has not, makes the concession less likely.
Trump sent amateurs to handle extremely difficult negotiations, and he handicaps them with lies, insults, and unhinged vascillating rhetoric which includes threats that violate the MOU -- actually threatening the lives of the negotiators.
The whole world sees this. It's painful to think about the depth and breadth of harm to America's reputation, and how long it may take to earn respect and trust again.

(1,324 posts)We have to keep in mind all sides in this conflict are complete liars - not always in the same way or to the same ends.
Our side for example routinely lies to steer public opinion and reinforce the cult.
In addition the Boss lies to get himself out of sticky public embarrassments and probably to soothe himself. The man called Vance surely does the former. Then theres the Bosss confabulations.
We can only reason based on actions.

(950 posts)And then somehow they expect the cronies and low level folks that remain to be successful, particularly when the president tends to blow up the whole negotiation process is moving.
