Stephen Miller was reportedly the driving force behind the DOJ's recent memo authorizing states to institutionalize people with disabilities rather than fund community-based care

Miller is more outspoken in his evil.
Vought is more banal and under the radar but is a real sick fuck with sociopathic intent for our country.

(26,511 posts)of millions of handicapped persons? What is the level of cutoff for who is institutionalized vs. not?
When I was very young, they were going to going to institutionalize me, due to my previously unknown severe hearing loss (they thought it was mental retardation, not a hearing loss. One day I got pushed off a slide, and fell all of the way to the ground, they checked me out then, and then realized that it was my hearing that was the issue, not mental. And my Mom had been telling them that it was my hearing too, not mental.
Goes to show you that don't believe the experts. Get other opinions.

(53,998 posts)compassionate, but it certainly must be more cost effective. Almost any time you can keep people in their homes with their families, the results tend to be far superior to any institutional settings, with the expensive overhead. Plus the community daycare facilities are very helpful for everyone involved including the family caregivers.
On a related note, Medicare has been using nurses and therapists for home visits which in most cases gives superior care at lower costs than endless visits to clinics, hospitals, and doctors' offices.

(25,263 posts)The phrase "life unworthy of life" (German: Lebensunwertes Leben) was a Nazi designation for the segments of the populace which, according to the Nazi regime, had no right to live. Those individuals were targeted to be murdered by the state via involuntary euthanasia, usually through the compulsion or deception of their caretakers. The term included people with disabilities and later those considered grossly inferior according to the racial policy of Nazi Germany.
