What Happened To The News?.......

I don't know if it is just me - but we have 3 National Cable TV News Stations - Fox, CNN & MSNBC - that run almost 24/7.

Why do I feel so uninformed about what is going on in this country and the world?

It seems like all that is being talked about on all the programs is political. Debates, SOTU, Congress, Political Financing, Polls, Repugs, Dems, Mitt, Newt, Rick, Ron, Barack, Michelle, and on and on and on and on - basically all things of a political bent.

We have pundits. We have analysts analyzing other analysts and when that is tapped out as much as they could they re-hash old political contests and bring up dead politicians.

To make matters worse - they run all these destructive political ads. They even run old political ads and contrast them with today's political ads.

I'm tried of all things political. Surely there must be other things that are going on in the world.

What happened to the news?

In addition to NewsHour, there is AlJazeera, BBC, and news programs from China, Japan, Germany and many other locations..

Added bonus - no commercials.

that there are no jobs and people are desperate out in the real world.

And if they ever covered world news, we'd know how the rest of the world responds to today's issues.. They barely ever cover anything from around the world anymore unless its a result of a big massive pile of dead people.

Dunno bout you but I couldn't care less.

It's all so stupid and unproductive.

To do an excellent job covering the actual news that happens in a single day would take about 3 hours. Add in an hour for the results from some longer-term investigative stories.

24-hour news channels still have 20 hours to fill. So they fill them with whatever they can pretend is newsworthy.

you want actual news. Here are some suggestions:

Al Jazeera English (Europe/Asia?)

http://www.aljazeera.com/watch_now/

CBC (Canada)

http://www.cbc.ca/news/

BBC (UK)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/

The Guardian (UK)

These are the ones I use to find actual news. I am sure there are many others as well.

But they are just distractions for the GOP. You know... the regular line up of celebrities they use as distractions when the Democrats need the stage.

If people were informed then they'd start asking uncomfortable questions, and challenging the status quo. The PTB want us to be simple, fearful, emotional, petty, two dimensional, insatiable consumers. Its that simple, and unfortunately it works.
