Man drops concealed weapon at World Market and it fires--luckily only nesting baskets are hit.

This happened at a World Market in my county here in WA State:

SILVERDALE, Wash. (AP) - A gun went off inside a Kitsap County store after a man dropped it, but no one was injured.

The Kitsap Sun reports that a 58-year-old Poulsbo man told deputies he had removed the .38-caliber, two-shot Derringer pistol from a holster on his belt before he entered the Cost Plus World Market in Silverdale on Saturday afternoon.

He put the gun in a coat pocket, but when he was in the middle of the store, he bent over - and the pistol fell out and discharged.

Sheriff's spokesman Scott Wilson says there were about 35 customers and workers inside, and staff used the public address system to tell everyone to evacuate.

By the time deputies arrived, mall security relying on witness descriptions had found the man in the Barnes & Noble bookstore next door.

The bullet damaged the leg of a day bed and lodged in a stack of nesting rope baskets.

The gun owner, who had a valid concealed weapon permit, was not arrested, but deputies forwarded the case to the prosecutor's office for consideration of reckless endangerment charges.

That K-Mart has a no gun sign now.

responsible they are?

Also, this is probably the more typical incident a gun owner would more likely be involved in rather than their riding in on their white horse and taking down some crazed killer, or urban robber threatening a hostage. But they can dream can't they?

Concealed carry puts us all at risk. How long before someone accidentally drops a gun and kills a kid?

Carry the guns out in the open and holstered. Easy. Peasy. Yes, it makes us look like we live in the rip roaring wild west, but the fact is...we're just about there as it is.

I want to know who's got a gun and where they've got it. That should be my right.

because it happens more often than they admit, and is not -- as they claim -- always reported or dealt with properly.

Then, they will claim that gun training should begin in school. That's great, if taught by someone who isn't pushing the dang things. But I'm not for putting NRA propagandists in front of kids. Might as well allow the KKK, drug pushers, polluters, banksters, and worse, to train the next generation too.

when they say things like this it shows the extreme position of this issue.

don't blame the gun people who chose to guy out tnad get a gun and claim they are law abiding responsble types but then do things like the OP. blame the schools for not teaching the idiot.

This is the world of the American CCW. Everyone's at risk. BANG BANG! Hit the deck! LOL.

There was that women who shot herself the other day in Myrtle beach fishing for something in her purse when her gun went off.

That fellow whose son was shot when his gun went off in his truck.

On New Year's Eve Redneck revelers were shooting bullets into the air when one fell from the sky and killed a girl standing in her backyard.

Yep, it will be a comedy of bullets flying around as the National Reload Association keeps telling folks to arm themselves.
