Peter Fones SPREAD THIS WIDE! Democrats and Obama want to repeal the 22nd Amendment, which limits the terms of President to 2 terms. They want Obama to get a 3rd or more term! We MUST Stop This!

Introduced:
Jan 04, 2013 (113th Congress, 2013–2015)
Sponsor:
Rep. José Serrano [D-NY15]

via Lori-ann Kellett
They hope to get a majority in both congress and senate by 2014, to get the 2/3 vote to pass this along with 38 states to ratify it. This would be horrible, horrible, horrible for our nation! Most people believe in term limits for congress, why repeal the 2 term limit for President if not to continue destroying our nation without limit!

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article.

From the Examiner:

Serrano’s inspiration for introducing this bill is not necessarily President Barack Obama, as the congressman has now introduced the bill for an eighth time through the years. Serrano proposed such bills during President Clinton’s term in 1997 and 1999, and during President George W. Bush’s terms in 2001, 2003, 2005, and 2007, as well. He has long believed that a president should not be limited to just two terms in the Oval Office.

None of the bills ever made it to the floor of Congress.

My sister called me about this on facebook and I sent her the examiner link so she could post it on facebook.
I am evidently url-inclusion-impaired, but just google examiner 22nd or something.

If things get dull around here, we could have an 'Eliminate One Letter from Your Keyboard Day." You just got a head start. It would make 'Talk Like a Pirate Day' look like it's 'Charlie Brown Day.' AAGH!

I have no idea why (or even IF) Naomi Wolf gave any air to this thing, but it ain't goin' nowhere.

It doesn't even have cosponsors.

0% chance of getting past committee.
0% chance of being enacted or passed.

Per Gerald Rozner:

This is not the first time:

Other members of Congress who have offered similar proposals in the last twenty years include the following:

Rep. Barney Frank of Massachusetts (Democrat): 1995, 1997, and 1999 (all during the presidency of Bill Clinton).

Rep. David Dreier of California (Republican): 1997 (during the presidency of Bill Clinton).

Rep. Jerrold Nadler of New York (Democrat): 1995 (during the presidency of Bill Clinton).

Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky (Republican): 1995 (during the presidency of Bill Clinton).

Rep. Guy Vander Jagt of Michigan (Republican): 1991 (during the presidency of George H.W. Bush).

Rep. Martin Sabo of Minnesota (Democratic-Farmer-Labor): 1991 (during the presidency of George H.W. Bush).

All died in committee.

Appeals to some in both directions, Repubs for its negative propaganda & just enough Dems wanting leverage against other Dems. Everyone knows it's never happening, but they USE it as theater anyway.

It happens under both Rep and Dem presidents, and is stupid regardless of who is in office. And gets no traction regardless of who is in office.

From MSN: http://now.msn.com/jose-serrano-congressman-wants-obama-to-have-more-time-in-office

Congressman Jose Serrano (D-N.Y.) has introduced a bill that advocates letting U.S. presidents stay in office, well, forever. Also known as H.J.Res 15, the bill proposes amending the Constitution to repeal the 22nd Amendment, which bars a president from serving more than two terms in office. Tea Party types have predictably gone nuts about it, but don’t start waving any "Obama forever!" flags just yet, folks. Serrano has introduced this bill at every Congress since 2001 (i.e. he did it when Bush was in office, too), and every time it dies a lonely death. And even if it didn’t, the Constitution would still require the approval of both the House, the Senate and three-fourths of the states. Um, not gonna happen

A waste of time and space.

The 22nd Amendment is not going to be repealed if for no other reason than that a lot of members of Congress would have to give up their personal dreams to be president if they voted to repeal it.

Simple self-interest and the day-dreams of fools insure that this will not be a problem.
