Tom --
I'm heading to Capitol Hill soon to deliver my third State of the Union address.
Before I go, I want to say thanks for everything you're doing.
Tonight, we set the tone for the year ahead. I'm going to lay out in concrete terms the path we need to take as a country if we want an economy that works for everyone and rewards hard work and responsibility.
I'm glad to know you'll be standing with me up there.
Barack

@ Ohio State U. in the fall of 2010 I will never know but you got to hand it to the President because

a SOTU address and he drops me an email .....

(692 posts)with a personal invite from Obama to stand next to him during the speech in your hands, the Secret Service and Capitol Police are bound to let you walk right on up, even if you're a little late.

No doubt we are tight. I wonder if he would let me spend the
night @ the White House or would that seem a little "pushy"
on my part?

The Straight Story
(48,121 posts)Dear TSS,
While doing research for tonight's SOTU address I was called to jury service on DU. A comment I felt inappropriate from a fellow American was allowed to stand, it was a 4-2 decision.
I cannot believe the jurors let it stand. As I reflected on the matter I felt it was similar to how the Congress has acted during my term. Perhaps the solution to the jury problems at DU is to allow jurors to discuss with each other before rendering a vote and allow them to trade off yes/no votes in hopes that they can use those votes later when feel an unfair verdict is being rendered.
Please send money.

Major Hogwash
(17,656 posts)With Barack, (we're on a first name basis, and I don't think he'd mind me telling you that), and he said the comment seemed questionable to him at first, but he thought about it a little more, and than after taking it into context what had been said in that thread already, he thought that we should just let it go this time, yet watch out that it doesn't become a recurring problem here later on.
And he also told me that he was going to try and sneak that one snarky comment that the other juror made on Sunday about that other post that was alerted on that he had read about here yesterday, into the SOTU speech tonight, and then he told me to watch for it tonight.
He said that he might use it early in the speech to see if Boehner is even paying attention.
