SOTU is typically unity, not bashing the other side, etc.

I frankly don't believe he's going to be partisan, but that's how the media is spinning it.

because all I can think of is "of course it's political, and OF COURSE the MSM are propagandists"

I want to be surprised by the real "state of our union." I want to be angry, incensed, and disgusted by the negatives in our society, but bad news doesn't shock me anymore.

I wish to hell it did...

P.S. The "address" isn't constitutionally mandated. Only the report. It can be written and delivered by courier to congress. There is not requirement to POTUS to deliver it verbally or in person.

IS required by the Constitution to address the Congress "from time to time."

Article II, Section 3:

"He shall from time to time give to Congress information of the State of the Union and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient. ” — Article II, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution
