When East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo (R) was asked by WPIX-TV what he would do for the Latino community in the aftermath of four police officers being charged with violating the civil rights of Latino residents he said that he might go home and eat tacos.

1. What a moran.

Just for openers, most Latinos in CT are Puerto Rican, not Mexican. So Mayor Bigotface should have had pasteles instead.

Then again, East Haven as a whole is pretty much bigoted against anyone who isn't Italian. I see things haven't changed much since I lived in the area in the mid-'90s. Back then, residents of the neighboring East Shore neighborhood of New Haven were talking about seceding from the city (and possibly joining East Haven) because it dared to place scattered-site public housing in "their" neighborhood. The rallying cry was "Where's MY free house?"

2. It seems to me that this isn't the first time East Haven has been busted for

terrorizing the Latino community. I recall seeing a segment about this town in a film about racism, maybe on LinkTv about five years ago.
