I can suggest some books/audiobooks that you might find interesting.

Viral Storm: Nathan Wolfe
The Hot Zone and The Demon in the Freezer: Richard Preston

After these books I realized how very little I had known about viruses.

I had a friend die from Swine flu and it prompted me to start looking.
