http://www.spokesman.com/blogs/boise/2013/jan/16/rep-mendive-ill-stand-right/On January 16, Rep. Ron Mendive (Coeur d'Alene, party not listed because it should be obvious), at an ACLU breakfast, asked the attendees that if they supported abortion, did they also support prostitution as both are "women's choices." He later also compared abortion to doing illegal drugs as both of those are choices also.
Mendive is a freshman who was sworn in a week and a half ago. I predict he will provide DU with LOTS of entertainment.

(50,562 posts)Potatoes are good. Potatoes are an engine of economic prosperity. Idaho is known for its potatoes worldwide. You can go to a person in the far-off reaches of the world, tell them you come from Idaho and they will say, "oh, the potato state!"
We have "Famous Potatoes" written on our license plates. With any luck, we will never have "Famous Right-Wing Crackpots" on them.

(5,637 posts)My bad. I love potatoes, and I don't know what came over me. My profound apologies, and to revise my post, I'll say what a tool instead, with no insult intended for tools.

(50,562 posts)There are some huge egg farms in South Idaho, and dairying is huge down there.
"What a little shit!" appropriately describes...well, almost every state legislator in Idaho.
Oh...good news though: Phil Hart, tax evader and timber thief, is no longer a member of the state legislature. I know the man who ran as a Democrat for his seat; his name is Dan English and he was truly heartbroken Phil Hart lost the primary. Running against Phil Hart was gonna be fun, and he was denied the pleasure.

(86,775 posts)that Southern Idaho has all those feed lots that are so hard to breath around, or "Stinkplot" over by Pocatato (actually all ovre the state being the largest private landholder) or the most evil of evils, Monsanto over by Soda Springs (especially)... after all.

(50,562 posts)Fortunately, he represents the north side of town. (Coeur d'Alene is in two districts: it is part of District 3, which Mendive represents and is everything north of Appleway Avenue, and all of District 4, where I live.)

Y'all have your work cut out for you with that one.

(50,562 posts)They say an addict won't seek help until he's hit bottom, so the 12-steppers "bring up the bottom" on him so he will get into treatment sooner.
In the Idaho Legislature, there's a different technique: "pushing down the bottom." Because mining is one of our primary sources of wealth we have people who can dig faster than our legislature can sink. Last I checked, the bottom was at the 5500 level--over a mile below the surface of the Capitol lawn--and they show no signs of stopping. In twenty years, our legislators will all know how to speak Chinese.

(53,983 posts)Well, makes sense if one has the intellect of a lobotomized naked mole rat high on bath salts. I guess I am too verbose; makes sense if you're an asshole. Though I like my first analogy better.

(20,219 posts)I am tired--tired, I say!--of the WANTON disregard for mole rats, naked or clothed. Not to mention Chinese soups.
And, just to be clear, though a mole rat would have to get naked to get into the bath, a mole rat would never use bath salts for anything other than softening and pleasantly scenting the skin.
I am sickened down to the depths of my soul at the craven exploitation of mole rats I'm seeing around here! And just because you're obsessed with naked ones doesn't mean they are some kind of object to be used for entertainment and political similes!!!!!
Ship up or shape out!!
