Dennis Kucinich: It's “Almost Silly” To Think I'd Be The Token Liberal On Fox

The Ohio “liberal lion” is heading to Fox.

posted Jan 16, 2013 5:17pm EST

Dennis Kucinich's unlikely next act will be as a paid Fox News contributor, but he says it's "almost silly" to think that he'll be a kind of token.

"I'm way past that in my life and career," Kucinich said in a phone interview with BuzzFeed on Wednesday. "That's almost silly."

The former Ohio congressman, who lost his seat after redistricting to fellow Democrat Marcy Kaptur, said that Fox invited him to New York last week to discuss the deal. "That's when they made the offer and I accepted," he said.

He said that he'll appear on shows "across the Fox News Channel"; "There's a chance tomorrow, for example that I might end up being on O'Reilly. On another day I might end up being on Cavuto or on Fox Business."

In July, Kucinich announced that he was launching a PAC to support like-minded candidates after his exit from Congress. He said on Wednesday that "I'll continue to do that, but that's a long range plan and that's not going to in any way interfere with what I'm doing here."

He's not changed.. This might be a temporary gig.. DK has always let his choir boy day rule his values..
remember in the Congress , he got along and was respected on both sides of the aisle for his fair handed ways..
DK might be wrong in his ability to contribute to discussion on Faux, but I believe he thinks he can defend his ideas against Sean. In his gentlemaningly manner.
Fox wants DK on for several reasons. 1. They always have. Kucinich was not new to Faux.. Murdock respects his methods of defending liberal values.. 2. Faux news after their scandals needs some new blood to make them appear as a real news organization..
.. Besides, DK has every reason to be bitter towards so called 'liberal media..' They treated him poorly in his runs for president. Not giving him sufficient time or even banning him as they did by the AARP in Iowa in 2008... All the while O'Reilly gave him a chance to present his views even while disagreeing.
. Never fear, should this not work out for DK , he will move on.. Without compromising his views.. Considering how the Ohio Democrats in redistricting screwed over DK, this is justice.
Had the original redistricting bill as proposed by the Republican controlled legislature been pased, DK likely would still be a member of Congress instead of moving Marcy Kaptur's Toledo district into Cleveland. As was done in the compromise to the minority Democrats.

by that network to paint the picture of the "typical liberal" which we all know he isn't. I don't blame him for making money any way he likes but my respect for any liberal on that network is negligible.

If Dennis can get through to just a few of the FOX watchers, it will be worth it. And he can usually make his point rather strongly with the facts.

DK was invited to the Oscar's with Murdock walking up the red carpet just ahead of DK and his wife..
Its quite likely Murdock got Dennis Kucinich his invitation to the Oscars..?
Why. Murdock is hoping Kucinich's Mr Clean image rubs off onto Fox..
It will take more than Kucinich to do that..

He is their token liberal. They're not bringing him on to change anyone's minds. They don't want that. Their audience doesn't want that. It's not about giving a more fair account ... it's about throwing up a liberal to attack Obama from the left. And Dennis will do it. But that's fine - he just needs to realize he isn't some white knight going headstrong against the FOX conservative elite. He's going to be used as an instrument to attack Obama and Democrats ... that's what FOX wants. Anyone who doesn't believe it are either purposely ignorant or stupid. They're not radically changing their philosophy or becoming more open - they're just using one more tool to attack the President. Maybe Dennis will go to the mat and defend him ... but I doubt it.

Plain and simple.

"Our side" has simply terrible spokespeople. There's a lack of intellectual discipline and the weaving of compelling narratives. I want to hear non-"middle class" voices with stories to tell of SUFFERING, real suffering, and how they thankfully emerged to see another day. We are out there/
