We have seats for the swearing in ceremony, after which we're grabbing a train back to New York. I've been told the Union Station luggage facility will be closed for security, and we're not staying at an area hotel. Any suggestions?

In the morning, put your stuff in the box, tape it up, tape on the label, and ask the hotel to put it in the outgoing mail. Or alternatively you could drop the box at a post office.
