Gun ownership is social policy. It is not. Ownership is primarily a potential check on usurping government, and a means of self-defense. No guarantees, either.
I have a slightly diff. take on your theme: We once had leaders who fought for civil rights, voting rights, non-discrimination, better environment and less pollution, improved education, less military intervention, jobs programs, and more. Now all we get is this stinkin' gun control T-shirt.
