Detroit-born southern rockabilly Ted Nugent isnt known for moderation, but from the sound of his latest comments, the re-election of President Barack Obama (D) has made him ever more extreme. The comment was a reference to the Battle of Concord, in which a British soldier broke a standoff and fired upon assembled American militiamen, in what later became known as the shot heard around the world that helped launch the Revolutionary War.
He added that Obama hires, appoints and associates with communists, and that hes an evil, dangerous man who hates America and hates freedom. And we need to fix this as soon as possible.
Speaking to conspiracy website World Net Daily earlier in January, the National Rifle Association board member said he believes a new era of civil rights is dawning one in which gun lovers must become the Rosa Parks.

(253 posts)Rush Limbaugh was saying that the Civil Rights demonstrators of the 60s should have been armed. (Though we all know what happened to the Black Panthers when they tried to fight back with weapons.)

(253 posts)I was talking more about the fact that they were defending themselves. My language was not accurate.
However, just the fact that they were displaying weapons was viewed as an all-out assault on white society.

(5,756 posts)Guess he forgot about that whole test of armed revolt back in the 1860's? Now he has even less chance than a Southern Traitor did then. One armed drone and he's out of there. No fuss, no muss, no deploying the National Guard - since we still don't deploy US troops on domestic soil. What a maroon.

(53,339 posts)Unlike Ted, some of us who got our draft notices in 1967 ended up actually serving in combat in Vietnam. Not that there's any point to be made from that, as a lot of others avoided serving, for a lot of different reasons.
But to hear that kind of bellicose crap from Nugent, over and over again, just pisses the hell out of me.
