U.S. Navy sailors sue Japan over nuclear accident

I would think that the US Navy should be able to squash this lawsuit and they should --or at the least, shouldn't the Navy members sue their own Navy for forcing them to go into danger?? (Actually I found out the reason they cannot sue the Navy is because when they enlist, they sign an oath not to sue the Navy -LOL!)

I wonder if they can sue another country if they get shot in a conflict or injured somehow?

Ironically, this Naval operation was called "Operation Tomodachi" --"Tomodachi means "friend".

Over here in Japan where I live, it is hard to say if the Japanese are more shocked, outraged or embarrassed for such behavior. "But that is not how a "tomodachi" acts", they say...

Shameful. 20,000 Japanese died and hundreds of thousands or more lost everything they have. Now a couple of sailors want to take $40 million dollars.

--------------------------------------------------
(CNN) -- Eight U.S. Navy sailors who were aboard a U.S. aircraft carrier off Japan after last year's Fukushima nuclear accident have sued the Tokyo Electric Power Company alleging a series of failures, including lying.

The suit, filed December 21 in U.S. District Court Southern District of California, alleges that the sailors -- among some 5,500 who were aboard the USS Ronald Reagan as it was providing aid to the stricken zone -- were themselves sickened as a result of exposure to radiation that escaped from the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant (FNPP).

"They have physical problems," said Paul C. Garner, the plaintiffs' attorney, in an interview with CNN affiliate KGTV in San Diego, the home port of the ship. "One of them is bleeding from his rectum; already, the others have problems with thyroid glands."

The Navy "was lulled into a false sense of security" because it relied on TEPCO's "misrepresentations regarding health and safety," Garner continued.

Imagine Japan paying 4 billion dollars to the US for their "help". How shameful can you get?
