Gingrich: Secular 'Elite' Promoting 'Radical Islam'

Gingrich: Secular 'Elite' Promoting 'Radical Islam'

Today on The Janet Mefferd Show, Newt Gingrich said that an intolerant “elite” made up of “secular judges and religious bigots” are trying to promote “radical Islam over Christianity and Judaism.” Gingrich, who told John Hagee’s church that America may soon be “a secular atheist country, potentially one dominated by radical Islamists,” said that there was a conspiracy between the Justice Department and the “Organization of Islamic Countries” (sic) to “begin to enforce censorship against American citizens to protect radical Islam.”

Listen:

<...>

Gingrich: Well, I think that we have to really, from my perspective you don’t have an issue of religious tolerance you have an elite which favors radical Islam over Christianity and Judaism. You have constant pressure by secular judges and by religious bigots to drive Christianity out of public life and to establish a secular state except when it comes to radical Islam, where all of the sudden they start making excuses for Sharia, they start making excuses that we really shouldn’t use certain language. Remember, the Organization of Islamic Countries is dedicated to preventing anyone, anywhere in the world from commenting negatively about Islam, so they would literally eliminate our free speech and there were clearly conversations held that implied that the US Justice Department would begin to enforce censorship against American citizens to protect radical Islam, I think that’s just an amazing concept frankly.

What does he mean by "secular judges"? This man is a danger to the public. I hope people can see through him. Saying this to John Hagee's church, yet. Hagee himself would love to move America to Israel. He prefers their government to our own government. What will it take to make people understand what is at stake in this election. Really!

who promote Islam aren't very secular.

Is that what he's pointing out. That they should be secular? Or they should, in fact, promote one religion over another in this, the land of religious freedom?

I've read this like 4 times and I still don't get it.

I'm all for "secular atheists". Are there any other kinds?

I have actually spoken, and recently, with a woman who thinks
like this. An ex co-worker that I met for lunch earlier this week.

She thinks that Obama "outlawed" National Prayer Day, and
encouraged 5,000 Muslims to pray at the White House instead.

She called him "evil".

Seriously.

Not that I think he really believes this stuff, but that he's playing so openly to the people who do, primarily the evangelical base and the Tea Party. It's clever, if all he cares about is winning the Republican nomination.

That would be quite an accomplishment anywhere in the world - a secular atheist state dominated by radical Islamists (or fundamentalist Christians for that matter). Kind of hard to imagine a secular atheistic state that is dominated by religious fundamentalists.

Does he really believe this stuff or is he just pandering to the teabagger base? It's like he trying to throw so much red meat out there for the base that he (and they) don't realize when he's throwing out polar opposites just to hear the sound of his voice.

He may believe that absurd word salad, but part of his target audience is stupid people who want a Christian theocracy. All they will hear is reinforcement for their persecution complexes. Perhaps you know these persecution complexes that some Christians have. Persecution in this setting apparently means "unable to fully force others to practice religion according to my religion beliefs." Newt is really wooing that crowd with his bullshit about secular atheists being dominated by radical Islamists. It makes NO SENSE, and doesn't have to.

22. Gingrich: Luddite 'Elites' Promoting Attacks by Killer Robots
Thu Jan 26, 2012, 02:42 PM
Jan 2012

Today on The Gotham Today Show, Newt Gingrich said that an intolerant “elite” made up of “Luddite judges" and "illiterate professors” are trying to promote a “radical take over of all fifty states of planet Earth” by "elitist killer liberal robots." Gingrich, who told John Hagee’s church that America may soon be “a robot infested country, potentially one dominated by uneducated lesbians,” said that there was a conspiracy between the Justice Department, Oprah Winfrey, Carl Sagan, organized labor, Seal Team 6, and the little purple ocelot who lives in his head and plays the violent incessantly (sick) to “begin to enforce the destruction of all technology in America by an army of giant robots, built by Nazis and left dormant on the dark side of moon until discovered by a liberal-dominated NASA in 1969.”

Listen:

<...>

Gingrich: Well, I think that we have to really, from my perspective, you don’t have an issue of robot tolerance; you have a Luddite elite who built these robots to bring radical change, certainly by radical Nazi liberals intent on redistributing wealth and forcing all of America to live their oppressive homosexual vegetarian lifestyle. Secular bigots who control our universities won't tell you this, but vegetarianism was started by Hitler as part of the Eugenics movement in the 1930s in order to drive barbecue out of public life and to suppress Arthur Godfrey's music. Hypocrites in the US Justice Department deny this, but when you attack Arthur Godfrey, you attack everyone's free speech... and specifically free sing. Censorship. I think that’s just an amazing concept frankly."

<...>

Gingrich interrupted his comments when he recieved reports that his wife, Callista, had contracted a cold while out on the campaign trail. The former Speaker immediately rushed from the studio to go update his status on Match.com.

"Colonial Muslim elites want to impose their radical secular Marxist ideas upon us all!"

That's the type of sentence that makes sense to Newt Gingrich supporters, because it makes him sound smart to anyone that finds such a sentence even remotely coherent.
