Mostly there's a lot of emotional reactions. We gotta stop confusing the two.

many of them children, have been shot to death in the last MONTH.

Should we not react emotionally to violent death? And do emotions necessarily disable one's thinking apparatus?

I didn't attack anything, nor did I say emotional reactions are bad. See? Another emotional reaction to a perceived criticism.

on top of the 24/7 drum beats from fox and the like keeping things on the emotional level, you can't really fault us when we get caught up in it from time to time.

Plus any reasonable debate gets immediately turned into BAN BAN BAN by the gun lobby. we're fighting a massive uphill battle from within and without, and we're only human.

defenders here on DU: "we don't give a damn how many kids have to die so we can keep fondling our deadly little toys, the 2nd amendment tell me so!!!!!!!!111"

Meanwhile, the carnage on our streets thanks to the gun culture rages unabated. The pro-NRA folks make decent human beings everywhere sick to their stomachs. They support a monstrous, racist cause.

The founders thought that women shouldnt vote. They thought citizens needed to be 21 years of age to vote. Some thought slavery was ok. We have done a lot of changes and interpretations since the Constitution was written.

(the NRA) to write bills to outlaw the facts about gun violence and then buy politicians to pass them, Americans don't know what to think. Those days are over. In the coming years the flood gates are going to open with REAL facts and figures about guns in America. The country is about to have it's eyes open and gun lovers better get ready for a huge drop in popularity.

the framers included the right to keep and bear arms in the Constitution, but they didn't include a right for everyone to at least have health care? Everyone needs health care in order to live and to even enjoy things like their right to liberty and happiness. What were they thinking?

You could trade a chicken to the doctor for some care, not that there would be multi million dollar equipment and bankrupting levels of health care.

It's really the other side of the muskets vs machine guns argument. They couldn't predict the future, and the rules haven't changed to reflect that.

We watched gangs arm themselves in our cities and did nothing meaningful to stop them, why?
We watched gun accidents rise across our country and did nothing meaningful to reverse them, why?
We watched the rise of violent games and movie content and did nothing, why?
We were told that being strong and having the largest military in the world would make us free, why did we believe those lies?
Are you ready to change that now?
