I have a question: if the bar is already too high for a lot of kids... what exactly is to be accomplished by "raising the bar" even higher? Other than failure, that is. Is this not the very definition of "setting up to fail"?

(3,251 posts)This is to ultimately force kids into dropping out of school by the seventh or eighth grade when they can't handle the schoolwork. I fully expect compulsory education to be outlawed in this country and thus pave the way for a return to child labor.
This would please the neoliberals to no end.
