Common Core a big hit in Bklyn Kindergarten:

>>>In a kindergarten class in Red Hook, Brooklyn, three children broke down and sobbed on separate days last week, another teacher told The Post.
When one girl cried, “I can’t do it,” classmates rubbed her back, telling her, “That’s OK.”>>>

I have a question: if the bar is already too high for a lot of kids... what exactly is to be accomplished by "raising the bar" even higher? Other than failure, that is. Is this not the very definition of "setting up to fail"?

Mr. Prez: the ball's in your court on this one.

Big Bill ( Gates), "Heckuva Job Dunkie", David Coleman: are ya there? All you ed experts: feel free to jump in at any time.

Here's the rest, btw. From the hideous NY Post , btw. ( It would appear that even THEY get educational complexities better than the prep-school prodigies that drive this admin's ed policies) :

This is to ultimately force kids into dropping out of school by the seventh or eighth grade when they can't handle the schoolwork. I fully expect compulsory education to be outlawed in this country and thus pave the way for a return to child labor.

This would please the neoliberals to no end.

Karen, while examining the inside of her fur-timmed "something-or-other", angrily exclaims, "Kids ruin everything. Just look at the stitching on this thing."

Sounds too harsh for the kids. Or should we blame it to the information overload of the internet generation? What do you guys think?

There's lots of money to be made "improving", "reforming" and *privatizing* ( it's the only word in the series that doesn't need quotes because it describes exactly what they actually intend to do) public education.

And.......Welcome to DU.
