Is it Hulu? or what? Thanks in advance.

(36,850 posts)It costs a little, but much cheaper than cable.
Edit to add: the Roku box is a one time purchase, while the Netflix and Hulu charge monthly fees. You can watch Hulu for free on your computer.

(3,145 posts)Can't tell the difference between what I stream to my TV from the router with the Roku, and what I watch via VerizonFios. (I still have cable TV as well.)

(27,315 posts)CBS shows are online at cbs.com. We watch msnbc on their website too. and cspan is on line as well.
You can watch pretty much everything the next day, and even earlier for MsNBC (about 1 hour after the end of the show).

(2,336 posts)we do not watch.
They said it would cost more to have fewer channels. Makes sense. So we have dumped them.

(2,335 posts)They are inexpensive and have netflix and Hulu embedded One of the above plus amazon prime and you will never be short of stuff to watch except live sports
And depending on where you live you might get some over the air which will give you some live sports

(4,190 posts)The AppleTV we have always seems to lose the network, plus there aren't as many channel choices as the Roku.
But either way, you are correct, with Netflix, Hulu+ and Amazon Prime you won't lack for things to watch.
I would also recommend Playon, as this sort of aggregates all the network websites (like CBS, NBC, Food Channel, what have you) into a single interface. Some shows, like Big Bang Theory, aren't on Hulu, but you can find them on Playon.
We have 1 tv with satellite for things like sports and news, but most of what we watch is on the Roku.

(28,859 posts)I've been watching The West Wing, The Protectors (Danish), Frasier, and lots of other good shows as they take my fancy.
Recently I watched Spiral (French), The Eagle (Danish), Wallander (Swedish), and the Dragon Tattoo trilogy. All those shows are fantastic!

(12,448 posts)In the meantime, it really depends on what kind of things you want to watch. We felt that none of the premium streaming services were worth it even though they are a lot cheaper.
