DUers, please pay attention!

There have been a number of posts in this forum regarding ACTA, the international treaty that's already been
signed by many countries and which threatens Internet freedom every bit as much as SOPA, yet few DUers
have replied to any of the posts.

Here's a link to Avaaz:

ACTA -- a global treaty -- could allow corporations to censor the Internet. Negotiated in secret by a small number of rich countries and corporate powers, it would set up a shadowy new anti-counterfeiting body to allow private interests to police everything that we do online and impose massive penalties -- even prison sentences -- against people they say have harmed their business.

Europe is deciding right now whether to sign ACTA -- and without them, this global attack on Internet freedom will collapse. We know they have opposed ACTA before, but some members of Parliament are wavering -- let's give them the push they need to reject the treaty. Sign the petition -- we'll do a spectacular delivery in Brussels when we reach 500,000 signatures:

There really are people (read: corporations) out there who don't want the Internet to be free in any way, and
we have to stay alert to the threats they pose.

Please take action!

I was going to post that petition with some info on ACTA which I have been reading about over the past couple of days, along with the Avaaz petition. Thanks for doing this.

K&R there isn't much time to stop this. I'm glad Avaaz is doing this, they have millions of members worldwide.

When you sign a petition, your username appears along with your country's flag, which then scrolls down as new signers are added. It's really neat to see a parade of the flags of the world representing people who care about the same issues you care about.

appear each time I sign an Avaaz petition. It helps to see that humans truly are in the process of becoming conscious world citizens.

This morning there were some 280,000 signatories against the ACTA bill. Now there are over 707,000 and counting...
