Appearing on Foxs Happening Now this morning, former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton took to defending President Obamas program of targeted assassinations of Americans abroad, calling it what it is: an extension of Bush-era policies.
It seems to me that the approach that the Obama administration is following is consistent with and really derived from the Bush administration approach to the War on Terror, Bolton told host Jenna Lee. And I think it is entirely sensible. Whether it is foreign citizens who are involved with Al Qaeda or American citizens, we are in a war. They have attacked us. We have a congressional authorization to use military force in response. And thats whats at stake here.

(116,464 posts)House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) on Wednesday said he agrees with his Republican colleague Mike Rogers (R-MI), chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, on the use of drone strikes against U.S. citizens who are believed to be senior al-Qaeda members. In a statement Tuesday, Rogers defended the use of the strikes, arguing that the government has the authority and obligation to protect itself from terrorist threats.
During a press conference Wednesday, Boehner said he agreed with Rogers' statement. "That's all," he said.

That should take this issue off the impeachment table.

...at "gotcha" is a fail. Here's Bolton:
It seems to me that the approach that the Obama administration is following is consistent with and really derived from the Bush administration approach to the War on Terror, Bolton told host Jenna Lee.
Utter bullshit. What the hell does that mean ("consistent with and really derived" ? Bush didn't issue a justification for shit. His statements and those coming from his administration were lies. I watched a number of hearings where Bolton and Rice lied their asses off.
If Bush's policy was coherent he wouldn't have let bin Laden escape, wouldn't have launched a bullshit illegal war in Iraq and wouldn't have resorted to torture.
I'd be "embarrassed" latching onto Bolton's statement to prove a point.

(692 posts)that this is WRONG!!! God, this really makes me nauseus Democrat or Republican president...this is wrong!
For those who think that this is ok, ask yourselves, would you be alright with drone programs if China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, or any other nation or group of people started sending drones over here, bombing us (whether in retaliation or just because they can), right here on our soil??? I'm not ok with that, and that is exactly what will come from this if we don't stop this shit now! We've already seen "blowback" because of our other policies and actions, do we want to see this happen??
