Maher Mocks Conservatives as Racists and Defends Liberal Hatred of Bush
.........................
The one complaint they have is they really are sensitive about the idea that they are racist. And not all of them, of course, are. But then they do like nine racist things every week.
And this is what I want to say to them, is like stuff like this strikes me, like saying that you're threatened, Newt Gingrich calling Obama the "food stamp President" because he took office in a recession when people were needing more food stamps. It's like calling George Bush the "planes crashing into buildings President."
..............Say what you will about the left's hatred of Bush, at least we were hating on the real guy. We didn't invent a boogeyman who tanked the economy, took us to war on false pretenses, and tortured prisoners. That was the actual guy.

but it didn't turn out that way. Just a guess on my part however.

(36,827 posts)Saying it's OK for a freeper to post here because you are turned off by the jury system is just nutty, but I do agree with the possibility of that motivation. I can't think of any other reasons.
Rex
(65,616 posts)and I believe it is the people that complain the MOST about the system being a failure...that are trying to sink it by gaming the system.

(45,358 posts)It is a fact that he is responsible for the lingering effects of the American economy he helped destroy.
Of course he is also the "ignore the pre-9/11 warnings" pResident and the "let Bin Laden go at Tora Bora" pResident, not to mention the "bail out the TBTF banks" pResident.
Obama is the "clean up Bush's destruction and turn every economic indicator back into a positive President", all despite 100% GOP obstruction.

(6,581 posts)Bush and the rest of the republican mafiosi hadn't completely trashed the economy in the first place.

(8,244 posts)The main problem with food stamps is they are too hard to get.
We need a real food stamp president who will give food stamps to anybody who needs them.

(11,304 posts)in the middle never shut up. Of course neither did the republican who looked upset from the beginning last night. Martin hardly got a chance to talk and I wanted to hear what he had to say. Foley did have some points.

(11,304 posts)was wrong with the republican? He seemed mad from the very beginning. Like he didn't want to be there. He never gave any credit to Obama for anything. The hate for Obama just seem to ooze from his mouth.

(36,827 posts)It's just they start to get over the top when they start blaming Obama for a situation that was created in large part to Shrub's fucked up domestic policies.

ever could give away to those who genuinely need the help.

(42,757 posts)But BushCo had the deck stacked heavily in their favor. They owned all three branches of the Federal government. They wrote the laws, they interpreted the laws and they enforced the laws, when they felt like it. They appointed their own people to high positions in the Justice Department who would usually turn a blind eye to any shady deals BushCo was in favor of. The rethuglican Congress would pass laws which would just make stealing money from the US Treasury more legal.
What amazes me is after all this time the thieves in high places have not been held accountable for their crimes.
Major Nikon
(36,827 posts)However, as usual the Shrub administration took a valid purpose and perverted it for their own fucked up political gains.

(11,304 posts)wanted something you had to put out open bids. They always took the cheapest bid. Of course that was back in the mid 70s. The way they are doing it now why bother putting bids out if they are going to give it to their buddies.
Major Nikon
(36,827 posts)The competitive bidding system takes time and cost money. In the vast majority of situations it is the appropriate way to go, but there are circumstances that require urgency or there may be only one company that can provide the services required. Going through the bid process would be counterproductive. As expected, Shrub used these exclusions as a way to back door large Republican donors with huge contracts. With the GOP in control of all three branches of government, there was little to stop them.

(1,831 posts)To show how useless these types of labels are when trying to discuss politics rationally. Don't get me wrong, this kind of crap can be a real barrel of monkeys under certain conditions. But when attempting to find optimum solutions for the problems we face as a nation, they're pretty lame.
All the accusations, finger pointing, categorizing, and payoffs are not going to get us 1 inch closer to the kind of nation we want to leave our kids.
