What does it matter if Dorner had legitimate gripes against the LAPD?

This is NOT a defense of the LAPD.

Maybe his firing was unfair. So what? He murdered the daughter of the man who represented him and her fiancee, as well as another cop. The young woman and her fiancee had jack to do with an unfairness he may have suffered.

Dorner is just another highly disturbed individual with a gun determined to blow other humans away. Yes, he's better trained with weapons than most, but other than that, he's just a murdering sob.

I read his entire vile manifesto. Even if what he alleges is true, he says shit like this:

"Even with the multiple conversations and ambient noise I heard Officer Magana call an indivdual a nigger again. Now that I had confirmed it, I told Magana not to use that word again. I explained that it was a well known offensive word that should not be used by anyone. He replied, “I’ll say it when I want”. Officer Burdios, a friend of his, also stated that he would say nigger when he wanted. At that point I jumped over my front passenger seat and two other officers where I placed my hands around Burdios’ neck and squeezed. I stated to Burdios, “Don’t fucking say that”. At that point there was pushing and shoving and we were separated by several other officers. What I should have done, was put a Winchester Ranger SXT 9mm 147 grain bullet in his skull and Officer Magana’s skull."

the entire screed is one big honking example of extreme cognitive dissonance. It's clear that who he thinks he is and his actual behavior are wildly at odds.

And by the way, Asian officers, lesbian officers, Hispanic officers that this man deems to have behaved in certain ways, are all "high value targets".

Here are some egregious passages from his "manifesto":

"To those children of the officers who are eradicated, your parent was not the individual you thought they were. As you get older,you will see the evidence that your parent was a tyrant who loss their ethos and instead followed the path of moral corruptness. They conspired to hide and suppress the truth of misconduct on others behalf’s. Your parent will have a name and plaque on the fallen officers memorial in D.C. But, In all honesty, your parents name will be a reminder to other officers to maintain the oath they swore and to stay along the shoreline that has guided them from childhood to that of a local, state, or federal law enforcement officer."

Not only is that mondo narcissistic but it's cruel as hell and utterly delusional.

"I never had the opportunity to have a family of my own, I’m terminating yours. Quan, Anderson, Evans, and BOR members Look your wives/husbands and surviving children directly in the face and tell them the truth as to why your children are dead."

"Wayne LaPierre, President of the NRA, you’re a vile and inhumane piece of shit. You never even showed 30 seconds of empathy for the children, teachers, and families of Sandy Hook. You deflected any type of blame/responsibility and directed it toward the influence of movies and the media. You are a failure of a human being. May all of your immediate and distant family die horrific deaths in front of you."

He won't come out of this alive either - not just by his choice but the LAPD. They need him to shut up for good.

2. No. There is one story. He's a murderer with no legitimate reason, justification or excuse

for what he did.

We have no idea whether anything that insane murderer said about his experience with the LAPD is accurate.

Furthermore, he's made it clear that he wants to die in a violent confrontation.

The ugly history of the LAPD and its current state, are really pretty irrelevant. He's using it as an excuse to let out anger that clearly has been coming to a boil for decades. This is a man who goes into a rage over incidents that occurred (or that he imagined) in elementary school.

I do employ critical thinking, something you appear unfamiliar with.

I do prefer facts to hollow guessing and I like any conclusions I tentatively draw to be based on fact.

Now tell me, do you see any excuse, justification or reason for his murdering Monica Quan? She was a beautiful young woman with her whole life ahead of her.

I NEVER said what he did is justified. EVER. So, I guess your sensational critical thinking skills missed that.

I SAID there are 2 aspects to that story and they are related. Dorner has been pushed over the edge by the situation with the LAPD. So whether you like it or not there is a link.

to those of us who live under their thumb, at least.

Two wrongs, however, never made a right. You can't use someone else's bad behavior to justify worse behavior of your own.

He needs help, major help, wish it would happen, however, I suspect this won't end nice.
He doesn't seem to want help, he is in effect wanting a police suicide, to go out in a
blaze of glory.

6. He's not a hero. He's a common criminal at this point.

That said, he points out a lot of things that we Los Angeles residents have known about LAPD for a long time. They are long past due a serious housecleaning. The Rampart consent decree didn't accomplish much, or for long.

There IS a baby in there with all that bath water people want to throw out.

I do want to separate them from this case. I don't necessarily believe that this man had legitimate grievances or trust his recounting of events.

I put this in another thread and it seems appropriate here and in line with Cali's argument.

Perhaps Dorner is right about everything he says. Perhaps he was rail-roaded by a corrupt law enforcement agency. The fact remains that he has murdered people and apparently has several more he wants to murder. That is not the way we do things in this country though. You go through your employer's grievance system and/or the courts and accept the outcome. Dorner took his complaints to both and didn't get the outcome he wanted. That's no excuse to go on a rampage shooting the people who you feel wronged you and shooting their families. You accept the verdict of the courts and move on. Moving on could've included writing Op-Eds for the LA Times and other media outlets to try to shine a light on the wrong-doing at LAPD and highlight his plight. If his accusations are true he could've tried to work within the systems we have to be vindicated.

Now we have people rooting for him to kill LAPD officers. If the LAPD is so bad you feel it's okay to have its officers shot then maybe you should do a little internal reflection. Why not get off your twittering asses and do something about it? What have you done other than whine in tweets or on Facebook? If there's a problem then it's your problem as a citizen - not just some one else's problem to deal with.

This is not a damned movie people. Dorner is murdering people.

No,so while he cant be excused we should also not turn a blind eye to the racism and abuse that is ingrained in our system or the LAPD specifically.

13. So many suffer injustice

in this world. One need only read a history book to gain an appreciation for that. This guy has no perspective if he thinks his injustice is so special that people should die for his pain.
I am reading now about the neuroscientist professor from Alabama who killed some of her colleagues because she was denied tenure.

Theirs is not really about seeking justice - it is about their inability to cope. They are not heroes.
