I kinda liked those, even though there are fortunate people with empathy and unfortunate people without it; and I've noticed sometimes the idea that "life isn't fair" gets deployed as a way to puncture compassion. Still...

Two people in a church pew..

One has a raggedy cloth coat, and digs for a few coins in a ratty handbag

The other has a mink coat and waves a $20 bill as she puts it on the collection plate

The church "makes more" from the mink coat, but the raggedy cloth coated one is probably more generous, since those precious few coins mean more to them.

Giving selflessly measures true generosity. (at least in my book, it does)
